Vatican has prepared Texts for Week of Christian Unity
Reality Check: "the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it, for in the past they have unhappily left it." --Pope Pius XI, Encyclical Mortalium Animos, 1928
"[B]e on guard lest, on the false pretext that more attention should be paid to the points on which we agree than to those on which we differ, a dangerous indifferentism be encouraged, especially among persons whose training in theology is not deep and whose practice of their faith is not very strong. For care must be taken lest, in the so-called "irenic" spirit of today, through comparative study and the vain desire for a progressively closer mutual approach among the various professions of faith, Catholic doctrine--either in its dogmas or in the truths which are connected with them--be so conformed or in a way adapted to the doctrines of dissident sects, that the purity of Catholic doctrine be impaired, or its genuine and certain meaning be obscured." --Instruction of the Holy Office (Pope Pius XII) on Ecumenism, 1949

"Catholic Bishop": Christians give thanks to God for Mohammed's Preaching of the "One True God"
Reality Check: God is a Trinity; Muslims explicitly reject the Trinity; hence Muslims worship a false god
"The holy universal Church teaches that it is not possible to worship God truly except in her and asserts that all who are outside of her will not be saved." --Pope St. Gregory the Great, qtd. by Pope Gregory XVI, Summo Iugiter Studio, 1832
"He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth." --Jesus Christ (Matthew 12:30)
"From the very beginning it was necessary for salvation to believe in the Trinity." --St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica

Whom are they fooling?
"The Council has brought about a fundamental change in the church’s understanding of its place in the world, yet one that is more faithful to the tradition of faith because it accounts for the action of the Holy Spirit in the world and the openness of history to the work of God."

See, it took the Church only 1,900 years to "understand" her true place in the world!
Too bad Pope St. Pius X wasn't so enlightened yet in his time!

Reality Check: "I have given [my disciples] thy word, and the world hath hated them: because they are not of the world, as I also am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from evil. They are not of the world, as I also am not of the world." --the Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:14-16)

John Paul II Heresy Watch:

"In the Words of Christ we do not find a Superior Evaluation of Virginity or Celibacy with respect to Matrimony. Continence and Matrimony are two basic situations, two 'states' of life, which differ from one another and complement one another within the Christian community."
Reality Check: "If anyone should say that the married state should be preferred to the state of virginity or celibacy and that it is not better and more blessed to remain in virginity or celibate than to be united in matrimony [cf. Matthew 19:11; 1 Corinthians 7:25; 38-40], let him be anathema" --Council of Trent; Denz. 980
"This doctrine of the excellence of virginity and of celibacy and of their superiority over the married state was, as We have already said, revealed by our Divine Redeemer and by the Apostle of the Gentiles; so too, it was solemnly defined as a dogma of divine faith by the holy council of Trent, and explained in the same way by all the holy Fathers and Doctors of the Church." --Pope Pius XII, Encyclical Sacra Virginitas, n. 32, 1954

Vatican's Archheretic Fitzgerald is at it again:
Contemplation "helps us see the action of God not only in the hearts of individuals, which is very important, but also in the traditions, customs and rites of the various religions."

Yes, one wonders about the "action of God" in the perfidious rite of circumcision in Judaism, or in the idolatry of Islam and Buddhism. Obviously, underlying all this is the heretical idea that all religions adore the same God. This man is a Vatican official, so you can guess what the Vatican thinks about all this...
Reality Check: Pope Pius XI condemned "that false opinion which considers all religions to be more or less good and praiseworthy, since they all in different ways manifest and signify that sense which is inborn in us all, and by which we are led to God and to the obedient acknowledgment of His rule. Not only are those who hold this opinion in error and deceived, but also in distorting the idea of true religion they reject it, and, little by little, turn aside to naturalism and atheism, as it is called; from which it clearly follows that one who supports those who hold these theories and attempt to realize them, is altogether abandoning the divinely revealed religion" (Encyclical Mortalium Animos, 1928).
Pope Gregory XVI warned indifferentists to "consider the testimony of Christ Himself that 'those who are not with Christ are against Him,' and that they disperse unhappily who do not gather with Him. Therefore 'without a doubt, they will perish forever, unless they hold the Catholic faith whole and inviolate.'" (Encyclical Mirari Vos, 1832).

"No Rupture with the Past" Update:
“We are called to a new Catholicity, a new vision of the church, a new way of being church, through a path of conversion, communion and solidarity....we will be on our way into singing a new church into being"

Reality Check: "It is impossible to approve in Catholic publications a style inspired by unsound novelty which seems to deride the piety of the faithful and dwells on the introduction of a new order of Christian life, on new directions of the Church, on new aspirations of the modern soul, on a new social vocation of the clergy, on a new Christian civilization, and many other things of the same kind." --Pope Leo XIII, Instruction of the Sacred Congr. of Extraord. Eccl. Affairs, January 27, 1902
"I saw many pastors cherishing dangerous ideas against the Church. . . . They built a large, singular, extravagant church which was to embrace all creeds with equal rights: Evangelicals, Catholics, and all denominations, a true communion of the unholy with one shepherd and one flock. There was to be a Pope, a salaried Pope, without possessions. All was made ready, many things finished; but, in place of an altar, were only abomination and desolation. Such was the new church to be, and it was for it that he had set fire to the old one; but God designed otherwise."

"Cardinal" McCarrick on Capital Punishment: "We cannot teach that killing is wrong by killing..."

Who said killing per se is wrong? What is wrong is murder. But capital punishment is not murder. Hence capital punishment properly teaches that murder is wrong. So where is the US Novus Ordo Bishops' Campaign to end Abortion?
Reality Check: "Another kind of lawful slaying belongs to the civil authorities, to whom is entrusted power of life and death, by the legal and judicious exercise of which they punish the guilty and protect the innocent. The just use of this power, far from involving the crime of murder, is an act of paramount obedience to this Commandment which prohibits murder. The end of the Commandment is the preservation and security of human life. Now the punishments inflicted by the civil authority, which is the legitimate avenger of crime, naturally tend to this end, since they give security to life by repressing outrage and violence. Hence these words of David: In the morning I put to death all the wicked of the land, that I might cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of the Lord." --Catechism of the Council of Trent

Flashback 1998 / Heresy Watch:
Australian "Archbishop" Pell said Sacred Scriptures "contain historical and scientific errors and misunderstandings" -- and got support from the "conservative" Fr. Fessio, founder of Ignatius Press
Reality Check:
"For all the books which the Church receives as sacred and canonical, are written wholly and entirely, with all their parts, at the dictation of the Holy Ghost; and so far is it from being possible that any error can co-exist with inspiration, that inspiration not only is essentially incompatible with error, but excludes and rejects it as absolutely and necessarily as it is impossible that God Himself, the supreme Truth, can utter that which is not true. This is the ancient and unchanging faith of the Church... It follows that those who maintain that an error is possible in any genuine passage of the sacred writings, either pervert the Catholic notion of inspiration, or make God the author of such error. And so all the Fathers and Doctors agreed that the divine writings ... are free from all error...; God, speaking by the sacred writers, could not set down anything but what was true" --Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Providentissimus Deus, 1893, par. 20-21
"For while conceding that inspiration extends to every phrase -- and, indeed, to every single word of Scripture -- yet, by endeavoring to distinguish between what they style the primary or religious and the secondary or profane element in the Bible, they [the dissidents] claim that the effect of inspiration -- namely, absolute truth and immunity from error -- are to be restricted to that primary or religious element. ... [The truth is that:] Divine inspiration extends to every part of the Bible without the slightest exception, and ... no error can occur in the inspired text." --Pope Benedict XV, Encyclical Spiritus Paraclitus, 1920, par. 19,21

John Paul II Heresy Watch:
"The Eucharistic celebration reunites all Christians, whatever their differences may be, in a unanimous offering and in a meal in which all participate. It gathers them all in the equal dignity of brothers and sisters of Christ and children of the Father. It urges them to respect, to mutual esteem, to mutual service."
--John Paul II, General Audience of June 8, 1983, in Osservatore Romano, English edition, June 13, 1983, page 3
Reality Check:
"Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have been baptized and profess the true faith, and who have not been so unfortunate as to separate themselves from the unity of the Body, or been excluded by legitimate authority for grave faults committed. . . . It follows that those who are divided in faith or government cannot be living in the unity of such a Body, nor can they be living the life of its one Divine Spirit." --Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis Christi, par. 22 (1943)
"Jerome used to say it this way: he who eats the lamb outside this house will perish as did those during the flood who were not with Noah in the ark.'" --Pope Pius VIII, Tradidi Humilitati, par. 4 (1829)
"The Holy Roman Church firmly . . . teaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives; that the unity of this ecclesiastical body is of such importance that only for those who abide in it do the Church’s sacraments contribute to salvation. . . ." --Council of Florence, Cantate Domino (1441)

WE HAVE BEEN WARNED:
"...as the plague [of modernism] is not yet entirely stamped out, but lurks here and there in hidden places, We exhort all to be carefully on their guard against any contagion of the evil, to which we may apply the words Job used in other circumstances: 'It is a fire that devoureth even to destruction, and rooteth up all things that spring' (Job 31:12). Nor do We merely desire that Catholics should shrink from the errors of Modernism, but also from the tendencies or what is called the spirit of Modernism. Those who are infected by that spirit develop a keen dislike for all that savours of antiquity and become eager searchers after novelties in everything: in the way in which they carry out religious functions, in the ruling of Catholic institutions, and even in private exercises of piety."

Msgr. Fenton Warned in 1962:
Vatican II might Fail

"No Rupture with the Past" Update:
"Cardinal" Martino says Vatican II's Doctrine of Religious Liberty does not contradict previous Condemnation

Oh no? If religious freedom is "a natural right, based on the very dignity of the human person, which is defined as the right not to be subjected to external coercions in religious matters," then this means that the state has no right to prevent false religions to spread their false doctrines. What becomes of the Inquisition? What becomes of Catholic states? What becomes of Moses prohibiting the worship of the Golden Calf? Aside from that, we know that the practice of this new doctrine has been indifferentist to the core--or when was the last time you heard the Novus Ordo Vatican say that unless you become Catholic, you cannot be saved? Martino says unless you are free from external coercion in religious matters (we're not even talking about coercion to be Catholic but only coercion not to practice a false religion in public), then conversion to Catholicism cannot be sincere and real. So, before Vatican II, no one could convert sincerely? Pope Pius XII, not embracing the novel teaching of Vatican II, already taught: "whenever it happens, despite the constant teaching of this Apostolic See, that anyone is compelled to embrace the Catholic faith against his will, Our sense of duty demands that We condemn the act" (Encyclical Mystici Corporis Christi, n. 104).
