Bishop Rifan says New Mass is OK
How accurate were the SSPX's predictions! They warned against a deal between Rome and Campos! Now the deal is past and Campos is endorsing the New Mass, precisely as predicted! It was easy for the modernists to get Campos into this impiety. They argued that if Rifan wants to be a legitimate bishop "in full communion" with their hierarchy, then he "must demonstrate this full communion practically." No surprise there. The SSPX won't be foolish enough to make the same mistake now, will they? On the other hand, Bishop Rifan at least has his principles correct (unlike the SSPX). He correctly points out that if the New Mass was promulgated by the Pope, then it cannot be non-Catholic or sinful or invalid: "If we consider the New Mass in itself, in theory or in practice, as invalid or heretical, sacrilegious, heterodox, sinful, illegitimate or not Catholic, we would have to hold the theological conclusions of this position and apply them to the Pope and the entire episcopate residing in the world -- that is, the whole teaching Church: that the Church has officially promulgated, maintained for decades, and offers every day to God an illegitimate and sinful worship -- a proposition condemned by the Magisterium -- and that, therefore, the gates of hell have prevailed against her, which would be a heresy." Amen! But instead of concluding that therefore Paul VI was not the Pope, he instead concludes that the New Mass is a Catholic Mass! It's nice to know that apparently he now thinks the real problem with the New Mass is the sermons, not the rite! And this is a man who was a traditionalist a few years ago? By the way, if the New Mass is a legitimate Mass of the Catholic Church, then the Traditional Mass cannot be "better" than the New Mass. The Catholic Church doesn't promulgate "better" and "worse" sacramental rites. (As a reminder, this is what we're talking about.)Benedict appoints 2 New "Cardinals" to Ecclesia Dei Commission
