"...what
concord hath Christ with
Belial?"
~ 2 Corinthians 6:15
The work of far-out radicals?...yes, but
far-out radicals totally committed to the false Catholicism of Vatican
II
Canadian "Jesuit" peace sculpture a monument to religious
indifferentism The Jesuit Monument to Peace on Grotto Mountain in the
Canadian Rockies is an expression of the heretical Modernist contention
that "every religion, even that of paganism, must be held to be
true." (as condemned by Pope St. Pius X in his anti-Modernist encyclical,
Pascendi) Here we see an artwork that blasphemously
depicts the Holy Ghost in the form of a dove hovering above symbols of
Christianity and twelve other world religions--false religions, which are
cast in the two halves of the sculpture representing Christ as the Alpha
and the Omega. The implication is clear: While the juxtaposition of the
religions together with the cross shows them all held to be true and of
value, the placing of the Cross over them but still united with them shows
the Catholic religion having an excellence over them only of degree and
not of kind (to quote St. Pius again: "the most that Modernists can
maintain is that the Catholic has more truth because it is more
vivid...")
Some traditionally-minded people in the
Conciliar church may object that these Jesuits are on the fringe and not
to be taken as truly representing the faith that emerged from Vatican II,
however the exact opposite is true, as the sculpture is a very accurate
depiction of the Modernist mentality promoted at the Council, then carried
on unswervingly by the false popes and permeating the entire Novus Ordo
establishment in the ensuing decades.
For example, in the
Council's Decree on
Ecumenism, Unitatis
Redintegratio, approved in 1965 by
Paul VI, bluntly contradicted all prior Catholic teaching (that is, it
contradicted the Magisterium) by claiming that "the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from
using them [non-Catholic churches and "faith communities"] as means of
salvation" (in its explanation of the Creed, the Catechism of the
Council of Trent taught precisely the opposite--that the false
churches are "guided by the spirit of the devil"), while fourteen years
later John Paul II did not hesitate to write a line that St. Pius
X would instantly have recognized as Modernist: "the firm belief of the
followers of the non-Christian
religions--a belief that is
also an effect of the Spirit of truth." ("Encyclical" Redemptor
Hominis)

Hmm, looks like another "reform of the reform" is needed
Irreverence, apathy mark Novus Ordo response to
"sacrament of reconciliation" "Christopher Walsh, a Connecticut
priest and author of The Untapped Power of the Sacrament of Penance — A
Priest’s View....estimates that 20 percent of Catholics regularly go
to confession. That jibes with statistics that 25 percent to 35 percent of
Catholics attend Mass weekly. A 2003 University of Notre Dame study of
Catholics on their frequency of confessions found 9 percent went once a
month or more; 10 percent several times a year; 27 percent once or twice a
year; 52 percent almost never or never; and 1 percent didn’t know or
refused to answer....
"Walsh gives possible explanations for the
decline: It is not fulfilling for many Catholics. There is a
'misinterpretation' of the Vatican II Council that confession itself was
obsolete. Catholics are 'absorbing the culture' that has been 'just
casting off the whole idea of sin and guilt.'”
More Conciliar confusion concerning confession
“You are supposed to be praying and examining your conscience
to make a good confession as you stand in line,” said Betty Bova of of St.
Bernard of Clairvaux parish. “To tell the truth, I always talk to someone,
probably distracting them from praying.”
Putting out the fire of the Holy Ghost,
perhaps? Martian firefighters "mass" held in Germany Okay,
we added the "Martian" part, but this is still bizarre by any form of
reckoning. Quite in keeping with the endless stream of Conciliar
liturgical nonsense, however; anything to demean what should be the
dignity and solemnity of Divine Worship seems to be the rule of the
day.
Pray for him, not to
him! Two "miracles" surface in Sheen sainthood
bid "Two decades after Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen died,
Catholic leaders say two dying people survived through prayers in the name
of the Illinois native who became a national celebrity in the early days
of television." NOW Comment: Regrettably, Bp. Sheen threw himself
head over heels into the Vatican II religion and modified or even denied
many of the traditional Catholic positions he once held, even in the late
1970s praising the "new mass" as good for souls (when it was well
established that precisely the opposite was true) in Catholic
Digest and failing to speak out forcefully against
Communism--something that had been almost a trademark for him in his talks
and writings, which makes talk of his sainthood suspect, to say the least.
We should hope, rather, that he saved his soul.
Why bother? No one comes to church anymore
anyway! British "bishops" drop holy days of
obligation "Priests and lay Catholics
expressed dismay this week after it emerged that the bishops of England
and Wales had abandoned several traditional Holy Days of
Obligation. The bishops’ conference announced last Thursday that the
Vatican had given its approval for three of the Holy Days to be dropped."
Ah, maybe it's
because you quit being Catholics? US bishop says Vatican II has led to polarization within
church "Bishop Edward Braxton of Belleville, said that this decline
of common meaning is corroding Catholic identity and "is shaking our
communal self-understanding, which leads to the dangers of divisions,
quarrels and fragmentations," he said in a pastoral letter issued a year
after his installation as head of the Belleville Diocese."
New from Christ or
Chaos The
Work of Fools: The "new theology" and "Pope" Ratzinger At
the heart of the Modernist ethos is the belief that truth can contradict
itself. As God is the author all truth, Modernists believe that God can
contradict Himself, that He has not revealed anything that can be defined
definitively, that it is up to believers to "reinterpret" the meaning of
"truth" time and events unfold. This is, of course, the work of fools.
Nevertheless, the Modernist acceptance of the Hegelian view of the world
(that ideas contain within themselves the seeds of their own inherent
contradiction, thus creating a conflict that is resolved in the evolution
of a new idea, a synthesis, from the first idea and its antithesis) is the
foundation of the work of men such as the late Fathers Hans Urs von
Balthasar and Henri de Lubac and their protege, Father Joseph
Ratzinger.

No outright condemnation since 1981? Here's
why.... Novus Ordo commission to re-review false apparitions at
Medjugorje
"'
Cardinal' Vinko Puljic of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, announced a
commission would be formed to review the alleged Marian apparitions at
Medjugorje and pastoral provisions for the thousands of pilgrims who visit
the town each year. 'The commission members have not been named yet,'
Cardinal Puljic told Catholic News Service in a July 24 telephone
interview. 'I am awaiting suggestions from the Congregation for the
Doctrine of the Faith' on theologians to appoint."
NOW Comments:
Earlier this month Ratko Peric, Novus Ordo "bishop" of Mostar-Duvno, Bosnia (the
formerly Catholic diocese that includes Medjugorje) declared that neither he nor modernist Rome recognizes
the occurrences at Medjugorje as being authentic Marian apparitions and he
urged the supposed visionaries to cease such claims. Peric's seemingly
stern words led some observers to conclude that a Medjugorje crackdown was
soon occur, but the more recent article to which we've linked distinctly
shows such is not the case and that there is good reason.
These supposed appearances of our Lady have
been taking place since 1981 and, according to proponents, now number
in the thousands--and almost invariably the "Blessed Mother"
had messages for the seers. Compared this to two of the best-known true,
authenticated apparitions of Mary: 1858--Lourdes, eighteen times to
St. Bernadette and 1917--Fatima, six times to Jacinta,
Francisco and Lucia. In each case, the Holy Virgin's words were relatively
few, but of the greatest importance for the wellbeing both of individuals,
but of the mankind, always with the emphasis on the spiritual; at
Medjugorje, the "Mother of Christ" spoke often and many preposterous
things of a worldly nature were attributed to here, such as the claim by
"visionary" Vicka that our
Lady instructed that she wanted a 100-bed--no, not hospital,
but--"pastoral center" (that is, hotel) built in Medjugorje.
The "message of the day" angle, which would
turn the Blessed Virgin into the heavenly equivalent of a gossip columnist
ought to be a large red flag as far as the Medjugorje sightings go, not to
mention the from-poor-village-to-a-money-magnet aspects, which has been
subtly advanced through slick marketing ploys.
Yet there are far more serious questions that
the Medjugorje "apparitions" raise, because they touch directly on the
Faith. Quite tellingly, the "Virgin" turns away from sound Catholic
doctrine and spouts Vatican II errors--she suddenly becomes "Our Lady of
Ecumenism." On the frequently asked
questions page of Medjugorje Web, a pro-apparition site that boasts
over 4000 pages(!), the question is asked: "One one of the messages said
that all faiths are equal. Isn't this against the Catholic Church's
beliefs?" The webmaster answers as follows:
There was a question asked of Our Lady in
October 1981 which was: Are all religions the same? Our Lady answered:
"Members of all faiths are equal before God. God rules over each faith
just like a sovereign over his kingdom. In the world, all religions are
not the same because all people have not complied with the commandments
of God. They reject and disparage them."
The difficulty that some
Catholics have had with this answer is based on the belief that the only
salvation is within the Catholic Church. But the Catholic Church does
not believe this. In fact, Vatican II in its Dogmatic Constitution on
the Church "Lumen Gentium" says this: "Those also can attain to
salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of
Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God, and moved by grace strive
by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the
dictates of conscience. Nor does Divine Providence deny the helps
necessary for salvation to those who, without blame on their part, have
not yet arrived at an explicit knowledge of God and with His grace
strive to live a good life."
It is a great privilege to be
Catholic and I love my faith. I share my faith through my actions and
words whenever possible. But as Matthew 7 says "Judge not, that you may
not be judged". It is not up to us to decide who goes to Heaven and who
does not by their faith.
In addition, the "apparitions" on more than one
occasion have implicitly denigrated our Lady's Immaculate
Conception. For example, an alleged vision of Aug. 2, 1981 concluded
with this observation: "That evening during the apparition, those present
followed one another in order to touch 'the veil, the head, the hand, the
dress' of the apparition. 'At the end the Virgin seemed dirty, full of
stains.'" See Medjugorje--A false apparition (included are more of
"Mary's" ecumenical quotes)
Considering this and other equally
dubious facets of Medjugorje, there is no way that it's authenticity (or
lack thereof) would be continue an open question for a quarter of a
century if real Catholics were occupying seats of power. The notion that a
"Bp." Peric and his predecessor could categorically condemn the supposed
apparitions (even speaking of "schism") and yet permit the Medjugorje
industry to thrive within the boundaries of his diocese without
excommunicating the perpetrators of the fraud--likewise, the
non-intervention by the past two pretenders on the Chair of Peter--is more
evidence, were it needed, that the Vatican II hierarchy does not speak
with the authority of the Roman Catholic Church, for true Catholic
authority does not permit the endangerment and potential ruin of its flock
by spiritual counterfeits. (See, for example, the Church's
ruling and subsequent actions against the "seer" of Necedah and her followers).
Opus Dei financier brutally executed "A banker who had been questioned over a huge
corporate scandal was found murdered on Friday, having apparently
been kidnapped coming home from a meeting of the Roman Catholic
organisation Opus Dei .
The body of Gianmario Roveraro, 70, had been chopped into pieces and
hidden in a hut beneath a motorway bridge about 30km from Parma."
While he upholds the "dignity" of
criminals Chaput hears load of gripes concerning illegal
aliens "[Denver "Archbishop" Charles] Chaput
said hearing such frustrations hasn't changed his mind about the need to
protect the dignity of immigrants, 'but it might change my personal thoughts
about what political solutions are best.'"
NOW asks Caput and other Novus Ordo
defenders of crime this question: When someone
maliciously enters another person's home without the owner's permission or
knowledge with the intention of violating the owner's property rights and
helping himself to whatever he finds in the house, how can you talk about
"the need to protect the dignity" of the criminal trespasser? Yet that is
analogous to what you are doing every time you dare speak about
defending illegal aliens and absurdly invoke the "dignity" of those who
show utter contempt for our country, its laws and its sovereignty every
time they transgress our borders.
"Pope" Ratzinger welcomes traditionalists to St.
Peter's Oops, wrong tradition....never
mind!
But doesn't deny
it! Future FL "bishop's" office disputes report he'd give
"Communion" to pro-abort politicians "Bishop-designate Frank J.
Dewane disputed an article in Friday's Herald-Tribune that said
he would grant Communion to politicians who favor abortion rights. A
spokeswoman for the Diocese of Venice said his comments during an
interview were misinterpreted. But the spokeswoman wouldn't say what
Dewane's stance was on the controversial issue."
NOW Comments: This is a classic example
of Novus Ordo doublespeak, if ever there was one. Who but the shills of
the Vatican II church find it difficult to answer in a straightforward way
about this issue. What Dewane told the Sarasota
Herald-Tribune was that he doesn't intent to "politicize the
sacraments," which is a code language green light to receive for those who
push legalized baby-killing with their votes. So why the claim that he was
misinterpreted? The Diocese of Venice is made up largely of retired
people, many (if not most) of whom are pro-life, so they would not be
happy with a "bishop" who coddles pro-abortion politicos and if they
aren't happy, the Sunday collections drop off. Hence the spokeswoman's
refusal to reveal the putative bishop's stand clearly indicates that he
does, indeed, support the pro-abortionists, otherwise a simple, "No, they
cannot receive" would have sufficed and satisfied the pro-lifers. Hey, at
least she didn't lie (Bill Clinton would be proud of her
obfuscation)!
Reality Check: "But let your speech
be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of
evil." Matthew 5:37
Roman Catholic Faithful group
reports: Springfield (IL) "Bishop" George Lucas allows predatory
sodomites to stay in positions of authority "Yet another individual
(Scott J. Kastel) has come forward with first-hand testimony regarding
Msgr. John Renken’s predatory homosexual nature. Mr. Kastel has allowed me
to use his name publicly because he is scandalized by the fact that Bishop George Lucas, while claiming to want information
regarding clergy misconduct, refuses to act once he receives it. Kastel
provided both former Bishop Ryan (himself a predator) and Bishop Lucas
with statements and only came to Roman Catholic Faithful, Inc (RCF) after
Lucas refused to take action." Database of priests accused of sexual abuse
From "Christ or
Chaos" Disordered Theology (Novus Ordo emphasis: "dignity," not
salvation of souls) "There is not a scintilla of the
sensus Catholicus in most of what emanates from conciliarist,
Modernist Rome. Even the efforts of conciliarists to oppose various moral
evils are couched in conciliarspeak, eschewing any and all language that
could be identified with the authentic patrimony of the Catholic Church.
Efforts to oppose the slaughter of preborn children in their mothers'
wombs and to oppose 'disordered lifestyles' are founded in a desire to
assist 'humanity,' not in a desire to save souls. There is not one
reference to the possibility that those who are involved in objectively
Mortal Sins stand even the remotest possibility of losing their souls for
all eternity in Hell if they persist in a state of final impenitence when
they draw their dying breaths."
Really "reverent"
music Revealing Novus Ordo vocations video This comes
from Christ the King Seminary, run by Benedictines in British Columbia. It
consists of footage of seminary life accompanied by John Paul II quotes,
but without any voiceover. Although it appears relatively "conservative"
by post-Vatican II standards (even including a minor seminary), the
seminary's website includes
"Theology of the Body" downloads. Though there isn't a lot that openly
offends in the video, the driving rock background music is the antithesis
of what should be representing Catholic vocations to the priesthood, but
is so typical in the Vatican II religion, the implication being that young
men will not be attracted to a vocation unless it's made to seem trendy,
"with it" and open to the world. Gregorian Chant is avoided because it
represents solitude and detachment from the world, yet these are the very
firm foundations upon which true vocations have always been formed.
But ten months after her sleazy album debuted! Ignatius Press dumps
its former fair-haired girl "In light of the recent statements
and actions of singer Charlotte Church,
Ignatius Press will be dropping all of her products. It is with regret
that we do this; Miss Church possesses a great gift from God, and in the
past she has used her talent often to offer praise and glory to our
Lord...." Related Article: Charlotte Church faces Catholic boycott over Nazi Pope
jibe
Reality Check: The
righteous indignation of Ignatius Press is around ten months late in
coming. The above announcement was issued on July 18, after her
blasphemous anti-Catholic television "comedy" routine (some of the things
she did actually seemed like an unconscious parody of fringe Novus Ordo
behavior). The trouble is that Church released an album, "Tissues and
Issues," on last September 13th, which showed her on the cover in
immodestly dressed and in suggestive pose and which carried controversial
songs, including one hinting at deviant sexual activity. Singles from the
album also came with cover photos showing the singer in unladylike dress.
Despite all of that Ignatius Press continued to carry her products, so the
firm evidently had no problem with her unseemly image makeover until she
made went too far on TV, where among other things called Benedict XVI a
"Nazi."
Dr. Rama Coomaraswamy [RIP]
Dr. Rama
Coomaraswamy, doctor, author and former seminary professor, passed away on
July 19th. He is best known for the book, The Problems with the New Mass. In the 1980s he wrote
extensively for The Roman Catholic magazine and was Professor of
Ecclesiastical History at the Society of St. Pius
X's St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in
Ridgefield, Connecticut in the early part of that decade. Please pray for
the repose of his soul.
One of Dr. Coomaraswamy's
last articles dealt with the controversy over the validity in Novus Ordo episcopal consecrations, in which
he challenges the position articulated last fall by the Society of St.
Pius X's Brother Pierre Marie that they are, indeed,
valid.
ADL hails Episcopal Church vote to address anti-Jewish
prejudice in Scripture "The Anti-Defamation League (ADL)
applauded the Episcopal Church's decision to address 'anti-Jewish
prejudice' in its Scriptures and liturgical texts....ADL noted that since
1965, the Roman Catholic Church has adopted historic new policies that
condemn anti-Semitism and call for providing context for Bible passages
that appear to be 'anti-Jewish' without proper explanation. In addition,
other mainline Protestant churches, including the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America and the United Methodist Church, have taken steps to
address anti-Jewish prejudice in their sacred texts and
liturgy."
NOW Comments: This
is a reminder that the criticisms of Mel Gibson's The Passion of the
Christ had less to do with the filmmaker than with his ultimate
source: The Gospels. That Jewish groups such as the ADL would have a
problem with the New Testament is understandable, because it announces the
end of the old covenant, to which modern Jews still adhere in varying
degrees, as well as their rejection of the new covenant, manifested in
Jesus Christ; hence they necessarily must reject the Gospels as not being
divinely inspired and subject to human prejudices and error. However, their
"Catholic" allies in attacking both Gibson's film and Holy Scripture
as "anti-Semitic" had (nor have) no such excuses.
While the ADL applauds the Episcopal Church for its efforts in
unscriptural revisionism, it also finds time to praise the House for rejecting Marriage Protection
Amendment.

Italian Cathedral to Padre Pio designed as Masonic
Temple? In a July 17th posting on the forum page of the
Roman Catholic Online website (scroll down the above linked page for
photos) it is reported that the Italian religious magazine,
Chiesa Viva, March 2006 was a special issue devoted to examining
the question as to whether a cathedral dedicated to the holy Capuchin
stigmatist Padre Pio of San Giovanni Rotondo is really a Masonic temple in
the guise of a Catholic church.
The publisher/editor of Chiesa Viva, Dr. Luigi Villa
(Novus Ordo Watch carries a translation of his article concerning John XXIII), who is believed to have sent
copies of the issue to "Catholic & 'catholic' priests, Bishops,
Cardinals, as well as a selected group of Italian lay persons including
members of the judiciary."
Clearly, this is a story that bears close
monitoring--and it is one that isn't going away any time soon. In fact,
according to one person posting on the above forum, "an English
language translation...is now being prepared and a print run of 50,000
planned" emphasis added).
For those who read Italian here is the online

you can't read it, because there are photos to see.)

New rival for Madonna,
Sinead in Novus Ordo bad girl competition Charlotte "voice of an angel" Church sparks one unholy
row "[British pop singer] Charlotte Church has
sparked a holy row by dressing up as a drunk, drug-taking nun in her new
chat show. [Church], who was raised as a Catholic, smashed a statue of The
Virgin Mary and stubbed chewing gum out on the face of the baby Jesus in a
shocking comedy sketch....Welsh religious leaders blasted Charlotte for
dressing up as a nun in a sketch which saw her taking communion wafers in
the shape of smiley face ecstasy tablets."
As a sweet-voiced thirteen-year
old she had a best-selling pop-classical crossover album that included
traditional renderings of "Pie Jesu," "Panis Angelicus," "The Lord's
Prayer" and "Ave Maria." Appropriately, it was entitled "Voice of an
Angel." But that was eight years ago; now, after an image makeover, an
official bio of her reads: "Charlotte Church not only has 'the voice of an
angel,' but a 'wicked' flare for life." So, sadly to say, it would
seem.

Cartoon A mortal sin to kneel? Good cartoon (aside
from some of the mistaken terminology) about the blatant hypocrisy of
Conciliar "Bishop" Tod Brown from the Angry Twins conservative Novus Ordo
blogspot. Unfortunately, this site, like numerous others populating the
internet, is one run by new church whiners. *
*By whiners we mean, those
who continually object to and complain about "abuses" in the Vatican II
church, but never seem to have either the courage or common sense to
acknowledge they're dealing with a creature that isn't Catholic and
to wash their hands of it, once and for all. After more than forty years
of modernism masquerading as Catholicism, where novelties have
been made normative, you'd think these people would wake up and get a
clue, but the Novus Ordo establishment could care less about their
ineffectual whining, so long as they acknowledge their "authority" and
keep feeding the collection basket every Sunday. We would hope at some
point that they would see that their position is completely
untenable--false "reform of the reform" nonsense notwithstanding (see
article below)--and fight the modernists in a positive way. Otherwise,
they really have no right to complain, as these "abuses" would ultimately
not exist today were they not first tolerated and approved by many of the
very men who signed Vatican II's documents concerning the liturgy and by
Paul VI himself, who ostensibly gave those decrees the force of law by
promulgating them and then more recently institutionalized by the
succeeding leaders. In sum, there is nothing going on today that doesn't
enjoy the longstanding sanction of the revolutionaries running the Novus
Ordo circus. The whiners only have two logical paths to take; either: 1)
Reject the evil that goes on as not emanating from unmistakably lawful
Catholic authority, since it is per se impossible for the Church to
promulgate laws that are harmful to souls, and thus separate themselves
from its midst as one would flee from a burning building or 2) acknowledge
it as coming from a truly Catholic source, meaning that their complaining
about "abuses" really only amounts to them voicing a personal preference
and nothing more, which would mean that they need to desist from attacking
fellow Catholics (such as "Bp". Brown) and learn to embrace the horror
while holding their noses, just as conservative Anglicans do in their
false church.

'closed up in the past.' Today, he said, those two extremes are becoming

John Yanta of the Catholic diocese of Amarillo, Texas, has published a
pastoral letter on modesty in dress, especially at Sunday Mass, a subject
that inevitably arouses strong reactions even in conservative
circles."
Reality
Check: While there is much commendable in the
letter, it has no teeth--it's all about encouraging such dress at "mass,"
but with no call for enforcement. It's no dress code, but a mere
collection of points made about the need for modesty and while some will
read and take it to heart, so long as it's just a "it would be nice if you
cover up" sort of thing, others will choose to ignore it, especially if
their pastors don't care. For all that, if what are depicted as "purity
fashions" (like those in the accompanying photo) are what "Bp." Yanta has
in mind as acceptable dress, then he himself still needs some education on
the subject. We suggest that a good place for him and for other interested
readers to start is the book, Immodesty: Satan's Virtue, which describes much of modern attire as a revolt against God. At
Fatima, the Blessed Virgin Mary predicted that "Certain fashions will be
introduced which will offend My Son very much" and warned that "more souls
go to hell for sins of the flesh than any other reason". The Roman
Catholic Church has through the years instructed the
faithful on what has been referred to as Mary-like standards of dress,
but the former and current occupant of the Holy See never answered letters asking for modesty guidelines. While new church
apologists might argue that perhaps the letters never crossed their desks,
it is evident that neither John Paul II, nor Benedict XVI take modesty
that seriously anyway. One look need look no further that the not so
Mary-like dress of girls at World Youth Days from both "pontificates" to

Death knell for the
Society? Fellay reelected as SSPX
leader Word out of the Society of St. Pius X's [SSPX]
meeting in Ecône, Switzerland, is that Bishop Bernard Fellay has been
reelected to another twelve-year term as the group's superior. The above
link is a brief report posted at 5:10 GMT on the Rorate Cæli blogsite and
is the first of any kind we've seen in English so far [as of July
11, 5:00 p.m. EST], whether official or unofficial. The information
has shown up in a French press release that is linked by Rorate Cæli and
at the SSPX's German-language Swiss website, where the story is being
carried on the homepage.
Will this development bring about the
dissolution of the Society, at least as it is currently constituted (that
is, as any semblance of a potentially formidable foe to the Vatican II
church) and cause a full-fledged schism between the capitulators such as
Bp. Fellay and his right hand man, Father Franz Schmidberger, whose motto,
protestations aside, seems to be "strike a deal with modernist Rome as
soon as possible" and the more hard line leaders (surely a term of limited
accuracy when applied to those who stubbornly insist that legitimate
ecclesiastical authority still reigns in the Holy See and other sees
around the world), such as Bishops Richard Williamson, Alphonso de
Galarreta and Bernard Tissier de Mallerais? The answers, sadly, may well
prove to be yes and yes.
One person who seeks the Society's union with
the modernists, in responding to Rorate Cæli's blog, happily posted the
following:
This is the best news we could hope for...
for those of us who desire the SSPX to reconcile with
Rome.......
That Bp. Bernard Fellay will pick up right
where he left off and begin dealing anew with Benedict XVI and the other
hirelings is not a matter of debate: It will happen, the only
question is when, not if. It is to be hoped that the
hardliners in the Society had a large enough bloc present at the elections
to be able to exert enough of a braking action on the Fellay-Schmidberger
locomotive that it is unable to get up to top speed in its destructive
journey before counter-measures can be put into place.

Like
painted dolls--pretty, but artificial Spain gets a large dose of Ratzinger family
values
 The theme of "Pope" Benedict
XVI's visit to Spain over the weekend was to supposedly to defend and
celebrate the traditional family, which sounds good, yet to those who
closely follow the the woeful events occurring in Vatican II church on a
daily basis, there's a certain emptiness in his platitudes that are
difficult to miss. In the more than forty years since the council ended,
"Pope" Ratzinger's church has issued what by now is over two million false
marriage annulments; looked the other way repeatedly ("follow your
conscience") while couples have used birth control to prevent the blessing
of God only knows how many offspring; weakly "opposed" legalized
abortions, while often letting voters cast their ballots for pro-abortion
candidates and allowing pro-abortion politicians to remain in good
standing; called sodomy disordered and even sinful, yet urged that such
transgressors be treated with "respect" and "dignity"; spoken out against
same-sex "marriages," yet given approval to benefits for those in same-sex
civil unions; promoted a feminist "equality for women" that unduly drives
them from the home and into the workplace and young children into "daycare
centers" (a concept first established in Communist Russia under Lenin), to
name some of the most glaring examples of the Novus Ordo church's
hypocritical family values.
Benedict's "cordial meeting" with political heir of
priest killers While articles
leading up to Benedict's visit to Spain (such as the one heading this
section and Time's "Holy war of words")
characterized it as a fierce ideological clash with the country's
Socialist Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, what transpired was markedly different. The BBC,
in it's European press review for Monday,
July 10th, noted that the French Leftist paper, Libération
stresses the
conciliatory side to the visit.
The Pope "carefully avoided
controversy" and held a cordial meeting with Prime Minister Jose Luis
Rodriguez Zapatero on Saturday.
"To the great displeasure of those
who wanted to turn the papal visit into an anti-Zapatero high mass, Joseph
Ratzinger displayed moderation," it says.
"The two men barely
argued at all about the Spanish socialists' reforms of society," it says,
citing the end of obligatory catechism in schools, the go-ahead for stem
cell research and the easing of restrictions on abortion.
What makes this talk of a "cordial
meeting" all the more amazing is that Zapatero also heads the (to use a
bogus media term) "center-leftist" Spanish Socialist Workers'
Party, a group founded in 1879, "inspired by the revolutionary
principles of Marxism and Leninism" and a member of the Socialist
International The SSWP was part of the murderous "Republican" coalition
that took power in 1931 and initiated a veritable reign of terror against the
Catholic Church that over a three-year period destroyed nearly half of
Spain's churches--around 20,000 out of 42,000--and martyred 6832 priests
and religious. What would have happened to that nation had not
Generalissimo Francisco Franco led a spirited
counterattack to free his nation from the godless oppressors is too grim
to ponder. In any event, Franco was betrayed two years after his death,
when the same SSWP--which had been banned for over forty years--was
legalized in 1977.
One is permitted to ask what a real pope would
have to tell someone of Zapatero's ilk, save that the two of them have no
common ground upon which to commence a discussion. Certainly there would
be no cordial meeting. An irony here is that the radical Zapatero
goes under the guise of being--surprise!--a "Roman Catholic." (Now here's a point on which he
does have common ground with Benedict XVI, who shares the same
phony guise! And while we're at it, let's not forget another sterling
example of a Novus Ordo "Catholic statesman"...)

thou? Bishop Fellay: "nothing to
compromise"
"...there is no idea, no thought
in our heads of making any kind of compromise. It's nonsense. There is
nothing to compromise. There is nothing to negotiate; we can not negotiate
the Faith." -- Bp. Bernard Fellay
NOW Comments: This
five-minute Catholic Family News [CFN] clip, narrated by
John Vennari and featuring excerpts from Bp. Fellay's ordination sermon
last month, is certain to appeal to many who will be relieved at
tough-sounding rhetoric like that cited above, yet at bottom of it is the
same refusal to face reality that has long plagued both the Society of St.
Pius X [SSPX] and CFN.
Among the errors expounded therein are:
1. There is an authentic move being made towards
Tradition by Benedict XVI;
2. Conciliar "hierarchy" who favor a ghetto of "freedom"
for the Tridentine Mass (while, of course, insisting on the abominable
"new mass" as normative) are our friends and should be
trusted;
3. Somehow modernism mysteriously emerged after the
council and those who are pushing it today (such as the "Pope") are
merely confusedly lost under its sway, are in no way accountable for
their heretical words and deeds and just need to be gently nudged back
to Tradition by the Society, and
4. Good can be accomplished and compromise is not to be
feared by entering into "dialogues" with Benedict XVI and others leaders
in the Novus Ordo power structure.
When Bp. Fellay speaks of no compromise and nothing to
negotiate, readers need to flashback to what transpired when he had his
meeting last August with "His Holiness" at Castel Gandolfo:
Joaquin Navarro-Valls, the
director of the Vatican press office, reported that the meeting had been
held "in a climate of love for the Church and a desire to arrive at
perfect communion." He said that the Pope and Bishop Fellay were
hoping to make gradual progress in overcoming differences, so that a
full agreement could be reached "in a reasonable time." (emphases
added, source: Pope meets traditionalist
bishop)
Now, it is precisely this sort of report that have led
some to use words like "sellout" and "betrayal." But whether that is the
case (and we would prefer to think not) or it is simply an inability on
the Bishop's part to wake up to the truth, the harmful effects upon the
traditional movement would be the same. Please note that while Bp. Fellay
avows that he will not compromise or negotiate, what he doesn't say
is that he will cease his communications with modernist Rome, that he will
put an end to all dangerous dialogue. In other words, the underlying fatal
perception of the Vatican II establishment as simply confused victims of
what another writer for Catholic Family News absurdly argues is
"diabolical disorientation," the ultimate free pass to get away red-handed
with any heresy, schism, apostasy, blasphemy or sacrilege without the
least culpability.
This position is utterly bankrupt
and nonsensical, excusing the most grave attacks on Holy Mother the Church
by Fr. Ratzinger and his modernist cohorts as nothing more serious than
the theological equivalent of a small child innocently playing with
matches, who will realize the danger when scolded by an adult. As long as
the SSPX is led by people who fail to see things for what they
are--namely, that there is a plot to destroy the Catholic Church
from within and that the some of conspirators have succeeded in
penetrating to the highest posts of the Church, including the papacy
itself--then they simply are playing into the enemy's hands. There is
assuredly all the difference in the world between recognizing your
general, who simply happens to be weak and muddleheaded, and
mistaking an enemy, aiming at mayhem, for your general because he
happens to be wearing the general's uniform and is familiar with certain
military protocol. (An appreciative nod to Hutton Gibson for originating
this analogy in his book, Paul VI's legacy: Catholicism?, later
retitled Is the Pope Catholic?)
Likewise, CFN does its readers a significant
disservice by its constant sugarcoating of the situation, as though Fr.
Ratzinger no longer is to be held accountable for his act since
(illicitly) ascending to the Chair of St. Peter. The faithful who attend
SSPX chapels and subscribers to Catholic Family News need to start
holding, respectively, their clergy and editorial staff to more logically
consistent and uncompromisingly militant defenses of the Faith, which
begins by acknowledging that Benedict XVI and the entire Vatican II mafia
have nothing whatsoever to offer to Catholics.

Confounding the neo-trads "Show me one actual heresy"
"John-Paul II never quite said, 'All men are saved', but he
repeatedly used words that he cannot have failed to see would give that
impression. He never quite said, 'It is quite unnecessary to be a
Catholic, even in desire, to be saved.' But he used every means short of
directly saying it to ensure that everyone would believe that heresy.
"However, personally, against John-Paul II I like to
use the Koran-kissing episode precisely because St Thomas
Aquinas uses praying at Mohammed's tomb as an example of apostasy by
acts. The two are so similar it is very hard to evade the obvious
conclusion." (emphasis added)
It is instructive to note that the cited
passage from St. Thomas is found in the Summa Theologica (Second part of the second part,
Question 12, Article 1) Considering the lofty position in which the
Church has always held the Summa, it reasonably can be concluded
that the quotation here is consistent with the Magisterium.

MONSIGNOR JOSEPH CLIFFORD FENTON [1906-1969]
July 7th marks
the thirty-seventh anniversary of Msgr. Fenton's death. An intrepid
anti-modernist theologian, he was for many years a professor at Catholic
University of America and the editor of the American Ecclesiastical
Review. Msgr. Fenton is perhaps best known for having engaged in a
fierce intellectual battle on the question of religious liberty with the
Jesuit Fr. John Courtney Murray, a modernist who rejected the teaching of
the Church and who ultimately would win the day when he was able to
persuade the bishops at the Second Vatican Council that his novel theory
was somehow reconcilable with the Magisterium; this, despite a vigorous
defense of the true teaching by Msgr. Fenton, who attended Vatican II as
one of the closest American advisors to Alfredo Cardinal Ottaviani.
Consequently, through Fr. Murray's machinations, Dignitatis Humanæ,
the Council's Declaration on Religious Freedom, was passed.
While at the Council, Msgr. Fenton wrote with grave concern about the evil
effect that individuals like Frs. Hans Kung and Gregory Baum were having
on the direction the Council was heading; his concern would prove
prophetic. Among his many other important contributions to the cause of
upholding Catholic tradition, Msgr. Fenton was the professor who taught a
number of priests who would later be fighters against the Vatican II
revolution, including Fr. |
