Protestantizing devotional life
'Catholic Charismatic' movement's revealing history

Like the "new Mass," the so-called "Catholic charismatic renewal" movement was one of the fruits of John XXIII's "new Pentecost" that emerged in the 1960s after Vatican II, falsely promising Catholics a "new, improved" way to pray. It also paralleled the Novus Ordo Missĉ by mimicking Protestant services, in this case the delirium of the Pentecostals; just as the Montini-Bugnini "Mass" moved the focus of worship from a renewal of Christ's sacrifice on Calvary and His Presence in the Blessed Sacrament to a celebration of the congregation, Charismatic services are very much geared to the "experience" of the participants.

Playing the role of Obama's hitman
'Priest' who mocked Hillary again draws spotlight
"He's a white priest at a largely black church. He's held hands with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. He's been arrested dozens of times and battled anyone he thinks has wronged his parish -- from gun dealers to a local Catholic sports league. Now the Rev. Michael Pfleger is something else: the latest thorn in the side of presidential candidate Barack Obama."

VIDEO  Pfleger at Obama's church (If you haven't seen him in action, watch as Pfleger does his imitation of a black minister. LOL)

NOW Comments:
On the heels of Pfleger's remark  'Cardinal' Francis George "issued a press release Friday in which he criticized both Pfleger's involvement in a political campaign and a 'personal attack' on Clinton." This misses the real issue, which is that no one worthy of the name Catholic should be backing Obama, Clinton or any candidate who holds anti-God stands in favor of such evils as legal abortion, "gay" rights and
euthanasia.

Modernist Rome has approved 'scriptural version'
WYD Stations of the Cross changed to please non-Catholics
"In a bid to ensure the World Youth Day Stations of the Cross will not incite anti-Semitic feelings and appeal to all Christians, organizers have dropped six traditional stations which have no scriptural foundation. The Sydney Morning Herald reports the Church has changed one of its most popular devotions and a landmark event of World Youth Day to take account of the sensitivities of Jews and draw other Christian denominations into its youth celebrations."

No, explain it to the unborn!
'Archbishop' explains admonishment of pro-abortion Kansas governor
"Archbishop of Kansas City Joseph F. Naumann has further explained the motives for his public admonishment of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius for her support for legal abortion. The archbishop’s May 9 column, citing her recent veto of an abortion law reform bill passed by the Kansas legislature, had warned Governor Sebelius not to present herself for Holy Communion until she has publicly repented."

NOW Comments:
Some "neo-traditional" types (mainly the same crowd that views Benedict XVI's Latin Mass motu proprio as the greatest thing since, well, since
Quo Primum) will vigorously applaud Naumann, but their approbation is very much misguided.  It is instructive to note that Sebelius (easy to remember, rhymes with rebellious) isn't excommunicated for being an abortion facilitator, because for Naumann and other members of the Novus Ordo hierarchy (including "Pope" Ratzinger"), tangibly assisting in prenatal infanticide simply isn't a very serious matter. Please keep this in mind when some conciliar apologist tells you how "pro-life" his or her church is, because it's not: One can be a conscious abettor of these crimes against the weakest and most innocent members of society and still be a member of the Vatican II church. It's no big deal!

Yet another push for a 'global ethic'
Tony Blair's new foundation tacitly promotes one-world religion
"Tony Blair will today launch his long awaited Faith Foundation in New York, saying that he wants religion to be seen as a force for good in the world. The new organization, for which he is seeking hundreds of millions of pounds of charitable funding, will focus on developing better understanding between faiths as well as fostering concrete action on fighting poverty and disease."

NOW Comments:
It has been noted that Novus Ordo convert Blair has his friend, Modernist
Hans Küng, in part to thank for "becoming a Catholic."  Blair, who hasn't reputed a single iota of the staunchly pro-abortion, pro-sodomite record he assembled while Prime Minister, seems to have patterned his foundation closely after his pal Küng's own interfaith Global Ethic Foundation.

Kennedy: 'last lion' in the Senate?
"Sen. John McCain responded to the news of Sen. Edward Kennedy's brain tumor saying that Ted Kennedy was the "last lion of the Senate." Nice words, but hollow. Clearly Kennedy has been a forty-year force to reckon with in the US Senate, but lionizing him for his headstrong political partisanship over four decades is a little like saying that sticking around for a long time and being opinionated qualifies as a 'legacy.' That very record of anti-life advocacy is the measure by which his soul will be judged."

'Cardinal' Martini's glimpse of the post-modern Church
"Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, retired Archbishop of Milan, recently published an article in the Jesuit magazine America that is worthy of analysis.…Last year he made headlines stating the Church should open its doors to euthanasia. Prior to that, he suggested that Benedict XVI take new steps in ecumenism to move toward a Pan-religion. Even before that, he was one of the main voices clamoring for a more extensive application of collegiality to diminish the role of the Papacy, and calling for a Vatican III to achieve what Vatican II did not accomplish, etc."

The truth about the Spanish Inquisition
"One need not have read Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum to have heard of the dark dungeons, sadistic churchmen, and excruciating tortures of the Spanish Inquisition. The rack, the iron maiden, the bonfires on which the Catholic Church dumped its enemies by the millions: These are all familiar icons of the Spanish Inquisition set firmly into our culture. This image of the Spanish Inquisition is a useful one for those who have little love for the Catholic Church. Anyone wishing to beat the Church about the head and shoulders will not tarry long before grabbing two favorite clubs: the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition.…"

'Art' very possibly based on Satanist Crowley's blasphemous rite
'Bishop' offers very muted criticism of crucified frog sculpture
"A sculpture of a crucified frog holding a mug of beer on display at a Bolzano museum has sparked outrage in Italy. ANSA reports that local clerics and politicians want the work removed.  The one meter high work by late German artist Martin Kippenberger belongs to his Fred the Frog series and depicts a warty, pop-eyed amphibian nailed to a cross with a frothing mug of beer in one hand.

"Curators at Bolzano museum of modern art Museion said that Kippenberger's work was a self portrait of the artist ''in a state of profound
crisis,' but their explanation has been given short shrift by local bishop Wilhelm Egger."

NOW Comments:
'Bishop" Egger complained: 'The crucified frog has shocked many visitors to the Museion and has hurt their religious feelings. Even if this was not the intention of the artist or the Museion, there is a law in place that says religious feelings should be respected." This response is so typical of the false shepherds leading the Novus Ordo sect. He suggests that perhaps the artist or gallery didn't mean to shock and offend. Really? What part of mocking our Lord's Crucifixion doesn't the man understand? How much more obvious does it need to be? If an "artist" throws a crucifix in a jar of urine or makes a portrait of the Blessed Virgin Mary out of dung, is
n't that more than a hint as to the intent? If a "playwright" casts the role of Jesus as a foul-mouthed, violence prone sodomite, can't it be safely assumed that the man is not a friend of God? Ditto for the one who seeks to turn Christ into a beer-guzzling amphibian on a cross. Kippenberger may have gotten the idea from an occult ritual written by the notorious British Satanist, Aleister Crowley (photo right). Crowley entitled the rite Stauros Batrachou ("Cross of a Frog"), and before the actual killing of the animal, he goes through steps that include placing it in a box while intoning a passage from the Te Deum ("Thou didst not abhor the Virgin's Womb") and "baptizing" it. The ritual is from beginning to end one of the most studiously blasphemous productions ever conceived in the darkest recesses of a depraved human mind. For all that, we can only wonder whether Egger would hold out that it might not have been Crowley's intention to blaspheme, maybe he "meant well." Such is the Conciliar mindset, where we see three essentially three types of "bishops": those who are 1) weaklings too cowardly to stand up for Christ, 2) equivocators who have adopted an "I'm OK, You're OK" compromise with the world, and 3) outright infiltrators and turncoats, who knowingly seek to undermine the Church and Christian civilization. Such an across-the-board lack of just moral outrage, of Catholic militancy in these men over those things which seek to mock God and all things holy is one of the surest proofs that there is a counterfeit church posing as the Catholic Church.

Appealing words veil Modernist deception
Hoyos on Summorum Pontificum

"Cardinal" Dario Castrillon Hoyos, Benedict XVI's President of the "Pontifical" Commission Ecclesia Dei, appeared before the camera to film the introduction to a video promoting the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum to Novus Ordo presiders, though the validity of Masses said by these men must be considered as doubtful as their Holy Orders. He begins the intro sounding very Catholic, alluding to how the traditional Mass is a "treasure" that for over a thousand "brought unity to the Faith," and enabled Catholics to adore God in "sacred silence" and "contemplation," and how it is a rite of "liturgical richness," "spiritual richness," and "theological richness."

The obvious question for Hoyos is why there should even be a "new Mass" to compete with the Mass, since it could never equal, much less surpass, it. Why replace a treasure with something clearly of lesser value, something that destroys quiet spiritual reflection on the Holy Sacrifice at the altar for noisy communal distractions and which, instead of being theologically rich is vague and ambiguous, when it isn't being outright erroneous? Why tale away the hallowed Mystery of Faith, only to put in its place something commonplace and even at times profane?

Hoyos says that Benedict promulgated the motu proprio "spontaneously" as "a gift freely offered," but those who are familiar with Ratzinger's writings on liturgy know him to favor a merging of the two rites. It is something that he's been considering for years, so it's hardly a spontaneous act. The notion that Summorum Pontificum is somehow a gift is an insult to Catholics. We are entitled to the true Mass in every church in the world, and not as an equivalent to that long ago discredited caricature of sacred liturgy, Montini-Bugnini's so-called Novus Ordo Missĉ, which does nothing to enrich the soul or spiritually edify the senses. There can be no compromise for Catholics, no acceptance of what is essentially a Protestant worship service as a trade-off for limited access to the true Mass in  Conciliar churches.

The video's conclusion is telling, as well, for as Hoyos mentions new church clerics learning the traditional rite, he says such instruction is very important, so that they will celebrate it with "piety and love." This is a curious remark, because of what it inadvertently suggests. Instruction videos can teach the Latin, the rubrics, and so forth, needed to offer Mass properly, but what they can't do is provide the dispositions of the heart necessary to do so in a reverent manner. But if the true Mass and "new Mass" are but variations of the same Roman Rite, then why should Hoyos even be concerned about such a thing in the first place? If they're already saying one form of the rite with the requisite piety and love, oughtn't it care over to the other form as well? If there wasn't the disparity of rites we know exists, then Hoyos would never have had to say such a thing, but the underlying truth is that going through the Mass as if it were the Novus Ordo would be manifestly flawed. Hence the need for such a caveat.

N.B. What must never be lost sight of when we see Hoyos spin such comforting rhetoric is that the motu proprio is Benedict XVI's stepping stone to the "Mass of the Future," which will be a hybrid fusing elements of each rite together into a synthesis. Already, in the Good Friday Prayer revision, we see Ratzinger beginning the process by patching his novelty into the 1962 Missal, and the motu crowd should expect more of the same in the not too distant future for the "Pope" has written that "the two Forms of the usage of the Roman Rite can be mutually enriching: new Saints and some of the new Prefaces can and should be inserted in the old Missal. The
'Ecclesia Dei' Commission, in contact with various bodies devoted to the usus antiquior, will study the practical possibilities in this regard." (from the motu's
Explanatory Letter) Do not be deceived, the so-called "universal indult" is not the final destination, not by a long stretch.

Receiving communion kneeling may not be permanent change
"The four dozen people who received Communion from Pope Benedict XVI on the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ received the Eucharist on the tongue while kneeling. Vatican officials said the gesture at the May 22 Mass outside the Basilica of St. John Lateran does not mark a permanent change in papal liturgies, but highlighted the solemnity of the feast and a connection to Mass practices in the past."

NOW Comments:
Once again "Pope" Ratzinger and Co. throw a curve to the
The Remnant and others who unquestioningly trust a man who they once rightly regarded as a destroyer of Catholic traditions, and once again it should come as no surprise. Ratzinger has spelled out on more than once occasion that the Vatican II " liturgical reform" is in need of a reform. As a Modernist, it is standard thinking for him to see anything and everything in Catholicism as in a state of flux, so for him to temporarily offer nostalgic gestures to the traditionally-minded, despite his own belief that the Traditional Latin Mass is an anachronism, makes perfect sense. Anything that disarms their sensus Catholicus enough that he can condition them to accept his hybrid "Mass of the Future," which is to have elements of both the true Mass and "new Mass" blended together to form a new abomination, is fine with him. So far, much of his grand scheme seems to be moving ahead as planned, though the stubbornness of the Society of St. Pius X has been a sticking point.

Rotten fruits of Vatican II
Facing demonic possessions on a now-daily basis, German Conciliar church is forced to import 'exorcists'
"Up to one German per day undergoes a full scale exorcism, a priest estimates, giving a figure that has shocked the public. Hundreds of Germans, tortured by inner voices, are looking for priests to help free them from what they believe to be the grip of the devil, according to a radio documentary that has stirred debate about exorcism in the Catholic Church, the
Times Online
reports.

'Over the past year alone I have received requests from around 350 people who think they are possessed by an evil spirit,' says Fr Joerg Mueller, who heads a group of priests, doctors and therapists to deal with the problem. 'Therapy hasn't worked for them; they want exorcism — a prayer that can free them." (Photo: From the 2005 hit film,
The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which was based on real life events from Germany in 1975.)

NOW Comments:
It has been over a millennium since the Benedictine missionary and martyr St. Boniface brought the Faith to what is now Germany, and the above article is evidence that that country has become, in a very real sense, a
"post-Christian" nation. We can say this based the experience of the Church regarding demonic possession through the ages. In scripture, we read of several instances where Christ to cast out demons (Mary Magdalene, a man who could not speak, a boy who would cast himself into fires and otherwise attempt self-destruction, a man found living like a wild animal amongst the tombs at Gerasens, etc.), and exorcism was one of first spiritual powers He bestowed upon the Apostles: "Then calling together the twelve apostles, he gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases." (
Luke 9:1) Clearly, the world was then a place where such possessions were very prevalent. And so has been the case down through the ages in every pagan land the Church was to evangelize, but as our Lord and His Church were brought to the nations, so that the darkness of their false religions lifted from those peoples, the incidents lessened. So, in examining Church history we read: "…with the spread of Christianity and the disappearance of paganism, demonic power has been curtailed, and cases of obsession have become much rarer. It is only Catholic missionaries laboring in pagan lands, where Christianity is not yet dominant, who are likely to meet with fairly frequent cases of possession." (Emphasis added; Catholic Encyclopedia: Exorcist) We can logically say, then, based on the evidence provided in the article that Germany has again become a mission field in need of a second St. Boniface, and this is another development that has emerged as a result of the de-Catholicizing that has taken place there since Vatican II and as a result of Vatican II. (For newcomers to this site who would like to see instances of overtly the overtly diabolical in the Novus Ordo, we invite you to search our site for such terms as "devil mass," "mask," "Marilyn Manson" and "slasher," or simply drop down on this page to observe the demonic-looking figures taking part in a video we've titled, "The Ongoing 'Genius' of the Novus Ordo Church." Pope Saint Pius X condemned each of the novelties of conciliarism that have been promoted and defended with such vigor by Joseph Ratzinger throughout the course of his priesthood. These are enumerated once again in this article. Pope Saint Pius X approved of various ecclesiastical reforms to buttress the Church against Modernism, not to make any kind of accommodations with its spirit in the world.

'Cardinal' Murphy-O'Connor: Let's at least make abortion rarer
"Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor looked at the bright side, after noting the disappointment brought by parliamentarians who voted to leave the upper time limit for Britain's abortion law at 24 weeks of gestation."

NOW Comments:
This is the sort of response we've come to expect from the members of Novus Ordo hierarchy when it comes to taking a stand for life. They didn't forcefully stand up against it decades ago, when it was still illegal and they haven't done so in the intervening years, which is why we see pro-abortion politicians like Tony Blair and John Kerry still accepted as members of the counterfeit church. This is a war of light against darkness, of life against death, of God's rights versus the world's sins, yet for the lack of urgency and militancy these men exhibit, it might as well be a debate over some morally neutral issue, such as whether more taxes are needed for road repair. Murphy-O'Connor
states, echoing the enemies of life, that abortion is "personal choice. It is also about the choices our society makes to support women, their partners and families who face difficult decisions." Interesting that he uses the expression "partners" instead of "husbands" or "spouses," pointing to the usually illegitimate (and sometimes unnatural) cohabitation of these women (while underplaying those who chose to abort against their husbands' wishes), without condemning the these iniquities that open the door to the contraception/abortion mentality in the first place. Keep in mind that Murphy-O'Connor is one of the more conservative new order "bishops" on abortion, and you can see why nothing will ever get done for the unborn while they continue their compromise with the enemies of of the unborn.

Oh, that's what it was!
Noe: Paul VI saw liturgical abuse as 'smoke of Satan'
"When Pope Paul VI [Giovanni Montini] spoke about the 'smoke of Satan' entering the Catholic Church, he was referring to liturgical abuses, according to the prelate who served as his master of ceremonies.

"Card
inal Virgilio Noe [pronounced "No-eh"], the chief Vatican liturgist during the pontificate of Paul VI, spoke candidly about the late Pope's concerns in an interview with the Roman Petrus web site. The Italian prelate-- who was also the Vatican's top liturgist under Pope John Paul I and the early years of the pontificate of John Paul II-- is now retired, and at the age of 86 his health is failing. In his interview with Petrus he concentrated primarily on his years serving Pope Paul VI.

"
Pope Paul accepted the liturgical reforms after Vatican II 'with pleasure,' Cardinal Noe said.…" (emphasis added)

NOW Comments:
Those pesky abuses,
of course! What's could be more logical? For decades it's been the excuse of choice for Conciliar apologists seeking to defend the Montini-Bugnini "new Mass,' so its fitting that the alibi's come full circle as a defense for Paul VI himself. The only
trouble with it is that it ignores several obvious facts. For a decade after Montini's imposition of the Novus Ordo Missae in 1969 the "abuses" continued unabated, so their would have been plenty of time for him to have moved against them, but he did no such thing. The truth behind this smoke screen, of course, is that it is Paul VI's novel liturgy
itself that is the abuse. Smoke of Satan in the sanctuary? It was Montini he put it there when he sought to foist on Catholics a rite that was principally crafted by the Freemason Bugnini with the assistance of Protestant ministers (shown above with Paul VI, who is at the right). It is curious that it took Noe over thirty years after Montini used the expression in 1972 to "remember" that it alluded to abuses; curious, as well, that the recollection came only after Benedict XVI's "liberation of the traditional Mass." (Neither did Noe, despite being "papal" master of ceremonies for Paul VI, do anything to fight the abuses, nor would he in his years with John Paul II.)

"Of all the absurdities that conciliarism presents to us on a regular basis, my friends, it is most telling that the semi-official newspaper of the Vatican, now in conciliar captivity, believes that ruminations about the possible existence of space aliens is newsworthy. 'Ex-Soviet' Russia close to $2B arms deal with Marxist Venezuela
"Next to Communist Cuba, Boliviarian Venezuela is neo-Soviet Russia's biggest client for military hardware. The Russian transport planes and aerial tankers will replace US counterparts currently in service with the Venezuelan Air Force but which the USA refuses to upgrade due to political tensions between Washington and Caracas.

New poll: Most Americans support legalizing assisted suicide
"A new poll finds a majority of Americans would support their own state following Oregon's lead and legalizing assisted suicide. The results, if accurate, should be a concern for pro-life advocates who are working hard to stop Washington and other states from following suit."

NOW Comments:
Public opinion surveys always are to be taken with a large grain of salt, especially when the pollsters try to claim that they are able to accurately glean the sentiment of a nation of over 200 million citizens simply by contacting 1100 people for their views. The results are all the more dubious when they're found to significantly contradict other polls' findings. Still, this is a method that in the past has successfully conditioned and molded the minds of many to accept such moral evils as abortion and homosexuality, so it should not be viewed lightly.

"In his encyclical Humani Generis Pope Pius XII referred to a statement by his great predecessor, Pope Pius IX, to the effect that the noblest function of sacred theology is that of showing how the doctrine defined by the Church is found in the sources of revelation--that is, in Sacred Scripture and in divine apostolic tradition--in the very sense in which the Church proposed it This book is the result of a laborious and humble effort to do this with reference to what the ecclesiastical teaching authority has taught and defended about the necessity of the Church for the attainment of eternal salvation." from the introduction. Does the death of Europe approach?

New form of smear—'He was really one of us!'
Revisionist bio paints Pope Saint Pius X as precursor of Vatican II
"The assessment of the pontificate of Pius X – which until now had appeared as a moment of stasis or even of regression because of the condemnation of modernism – emerges overturned. It was not the desire for condemnation, but the insistence on reform and modernization that motivated his decade-long pontific, an insistence so energetic that the pope preferred to advance it through his own private secretariat, the well-known 'segreteriola,' rather than through the offices of the curia."

NOW Comments:
To equate the true reforms of St. Pius X , who sought to restore all things in Christ with the Vatican II revolution besmirches the memory of one of the Church's greatest popes, and is hopelessly out of touch with the spirit of his glorious pontificate. His reforms weren't about "updatedness" or change for change's sake any more than were those of St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila's reform of the Carmelites, which strove for a return to the true spirit and rule of an order that had been greatly harmed by innovators. St. Pius' reform of liturgical music, for example, the 1903 motu proprio Inter Sollicitudines, had nothing to do with "modernization," but quite the opposite strove to banish the profane and theatrical compositions that had become quite prevalent in Catholic churches over the previous century, and to return to chant, polyphony and hymns that contain the features necessary for good sacred music: sanctity, goodness of form and universality, along with sobriety and gravity. And here's an instance where the post-conciliar church would later overturn this wholesome Pian decree to restore more edifying music, not only in spirit (banal "pop" songs that center on the congregation instead of God, and that exhibit none of the essential features enumerated above, have become the model for Novus Ordo "hymns"), but at times against the very letter of the motu (the sainted pope expressly forbade pianos, yet their defiant presence is a standard feature in Novus Ordo churches).

The Ongoing 'Genius' of the Novus Ordo Church

Over the years when it comes to the subject of liturgical insanity, we've seen a seemingly endless stream of "abuses" coming out of the Vatican II church, each vying with its predecessors for outrage. But that said, the above insanity still makes the short list. Is there anything they won't do? It should be duly noted that this is the "ordinary form of the Roman Rite" (Benedict XVI), and is being celebrated for the quasi-excommunicated Call to Action group by the retired Canadian bishop (and a key "progressive" Council figure) Bishop Remi Joseph De Roo,  who happens to be in good standing with Modernist Rome. The totally uncatholic atmosphere in the video is furthered by the music, including the monumentally awful entrance hymn, "Sing a New Church," by  "Benedictine" liturgy coordinator, Delores Dufner,  "named as one of three outstanding Roman Catholic (sic) hymn text writers since Vatican II." As for the grotesque towering things that appear assisting De Roo at "Mass," some observers have seen a likeness to this creature. (Any other guesses?)

Time magazine asks:
Is Liberal Catholicism Dead?
"He may not have been thinking about it at the time, but Pope Benedict, in the course of his recent U.S. visit may have dealt a knockout blow to the liberal American Catholicism that has challenged Rome since the early 1960s. He did so by speaking frankly and forcefully of his "deep shame" during his meeting with victims of the Church's sex-abuse scandal. By demonstrating that he 'gets' this most visceral of issues, the pontiff may have successfully mollified a good many alienated believers — and in the process, neutralized the last great rallying point for what was once a feisty and optimistic style of progressivism."

NOW Comments: The mass media's distorted portrayal of 'Pope' Ratzinger continues to fashion him as it did a decade ago, as a great "watchdog of orthodoxy" and "God's Rottweiler," but as Dr. Marian Horvat very ably demonstrates, this is a canine with no teeth, a veritable lapdog for the very same corrupt prelates he should be opposing! Yet the deceptive attempt to convince Catholics and others that a sea change is taking place that has moved the Barque of Peter in the direction of Tradition continues, whereas the real change is largely one of rhetoric and style pointsa great façade, indeed.
