Funding
Communists an
'oversight'?
Exposing the CCHD's ongoing deceptions
American
Life League is to be commended
for it's hard-hitting video, which clearly shows that the Catholic
Campaign for Human Development CCHD) is a conduit through which funding
is being siphoned off from Novus Ordo contributions and directed to a
number of leftist organizations. Further, it shows that this is no new
development for the CCHD, but an ongoing love affair with anti-Catholic
socialist that goes back decades. The video also asks whether the
allocating of such funding should be attributed to carelessness or to
consciously pro-abortion, pro-"gay" socialists. The one false note is at
the end, where it is recommended that people place a card in church
collection baskets stating why they will not contribute until CCHD
cleans up its act. Why this is an ultimately futile tact is covered in
"NOW Comments" below.
USCCB's 'social justice' program supports hard-left
causes
Conciliar officials, critics clash over CCHD
"The charge that criticisms of the CCHD (Catholic Campaign for
Human Development) are rooted in partisan politics
is patently false. The criticisms are rooted in the fact that
organizations being funded by the CCHD have been, and still are,
involved in activities and in promoting
philosophies that completely contradict Church teaching. These
activities and philosophies include the promotion of birth control,
same-sex marriage, abortion and, in some instances, even prostitution."
NOW Comments: Here's an issue that in recent weeks has
stirred considerable outrage in conservative circles in
the "mainstream Catholic" Church, yet it is a problem as old as the Novus Ordo sect
itself and one that brings into sharp focus the internal subversion of
Catholic institutions. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development
[CCHD], formed in 1969 as a "social (or more properly, socialist)
justice" program by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops,
has been one of many official "Catholic" agencies (including some within
the Vatican) to consistently have thrown their support and money to aid
groups that espouse openly positions and practices that are contrary to
the moral teachings of the Church. As Matthew Vadum writes for The
Washington Times (see third link below):
[CCHD] is an extreme left-wing
political organization created to feed and foster radical groups
like ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).
Most Catholics are blissfully unaware of its true mission, though it
says right on its Web site that it aims to support "organized groups
of white and minority poor to develop economic strength and
political power."
How
extreme left-wing you ask? Vadum continues:
President Obama is a big believer in
CCHD. In 1985-88 he ran the Developing Communities Project from an
office in Chicago's Holy Rosary Church. The project was part of the
Gamaliel network.
"I got my start as a community organizer working with mostly
Catholic parishes on the South Side of Chicago that were struggling
because the steel plants h
ad closed," Mr. Obama told Catholic
Digest. CCHD "helped fund the project, and so very early on, my
career was intertwined with the belief in social justice that is so
strong in the church." (Right:
Obama on the stump for the baby-killer vote. As far as we know
the CCHD hasn't funded
Planned Parenthood yet, but it
has contributed
to other pro-abortion groups and has worked with and funded Planned
Parenthood enablers like Obama.)
What's interesting to note is that there is a similar
pattern to what we witness in the liturgical revolution: 1) infiltrators
in the Church at the Council and its immediate aftermath were able to
con gullible Catholics into accepting un-Catholic social teachings by
couching them in vaguely-Catholic sounding rhetoric; 2) the new
post-Conciliar "Catholic" thinking was quickly spread throughout the
world, pushed by Paul VI and many bishops (those who opposed were
shouted down as behind the times—they would either accept "reeducation"
or be patiently ignored until their progressive successor was picked);
3) those opposed to these false reforms—mistakenly termed "abuses," when
the issue is really systemic—appealed to higher-ups in hopes of
bring an end to them; 4) typically, this would at best result in a
partial correction of the problem which amounted to window dressing (see
the partial defunding mentioned in the above column); and 5) after the
opposition settles down, a new wave of officially-sanctioned "abuses"
occur, yet the naïve
continue to blindly accept them as coming from the Catholic Church and
continue to be frustrated that nothing is ever done to fix the problem
once and for all. This is why all efforts to use boycotts of the
collection basket and the like to "force"
it to reform—the
CCHD
is
irreformable, because it was bad from its inception—more bad fruit from
the Vatican II tree. After 40 years of repeatedly
banging their heads against the wall over this kind of thing, there is no excuse for remaining in this false sect; it's time for
people to wake up, realize that what they've been doing hasn't worked,
isn't working and
never
will work, and finally seek a way to
provide real and effective resistance to the Modernists. (Hint: Real and
effective resistance does not involve appealing to one Modernist—even
those clothed in phony "friend of Tradition" garb—to save you from the
"abuses" of another Modernist.)
Above: The
logo for Young Workers United (YWU), a group recently defunded by the
Catholic
Campaign for Human Development. Some who are easily impressed may
consider this an
encouraging move, but it's worth remembering that the CCHD only did so
after a watchdog group,
Bellarmine Veritas Ministry, blew
the whistle on it's funding habits. The question that jumps out
is this: How could the CCHD have funded a group like Young Workers
United in the first place? After all, not a great deal of due diligence is required to figure
out that a group with that name
combined with a logo featuring a woman holding a red star very likely is
Communist. And had
the CCHD staffer assigned the task of learning something about YWU's
background gone to the
group's MySpace page, links to books by the following authors would be
found there: Karl Marx,
Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. Talk about three big red flags
(pun intended)' they don't get
any bigger or any redder than those! Of course to believe this
funding was made carelessly is to
presuppose that no one at CCHD
is capable of making a simple a fact check that could be done
in minutes using Google or intelligent enough to figure out that their
perspective beneficiary
was a flaming red Communist group, So to cling to the belief that this
money was given without
clear foreknowledge is to be hopelessly deceived. While it is always
good to look for a charitable
explanation for why people do things, in this case it stretches
credulity to the absolute breaking point.
The
alternative explanation here, though far more disturbing, is
unfortunately also far more plausible:
The CCHD's
funding of YWU was made with eyes
wide open, the money consciously given to avowed
enemies of Christ and it was only after this evil was
publically exposed that CCHD withheld funding, a
move that was has all the earmarks of public image damage control and
not organizational contrition.
If there was a genuine effort by the officials at CCHD to clean up its
act we'd expect them to do some
housecleaning, and we wouldn't find it continuing to fund
other radical groups, retaining the services
of those who were
enablers for Young Workers United, and allowing "Bp." Roger Morin
to embark on a
smear attack the whistleblowers and others justly outraged by such funding.

Errors of Vatican II(Part One)
"We do not pretend completeness for our synopsis
of the errors ascribed to Vatican II. Yet it seems to us that we have
specified in what follows a sufficient number of important ones,
beginning with the first utterances such as those contained in the
Council's October 20, 1962 'Address on Openness' by His Holiness John
XXIII and the Council Fathers' 'Message to the World.' Though not one of
the official, formal Council texts, nevertheless, these texts expressed
the thinking wanted by the 'progressive wing,' that is, the
neo-modernist innovators' line of thinking.
"Aside from its resoundingly divergent assertions denied by the facts,
such as, 'Providence is leading us to a new order of human relations
that...are developing toward a fullness of superior and unexpected
designs,' Pope John XXIII's famous speech on opening up to the world
contains three real and true doctrinal errors."
NOW Comments: In the light of recent negotiations between
the Society of St. Pius X and Modernist Rome it is instructive to read
what they were saying about the Council just six years, since the talks
center largely around attempts by the two sides to see whether
Vatican II can be reconciled with Catholic Tradition. If, as noted
above, the SSPX has determined that even John XXIII's opening address
contains "three real and true doctrinal errors," then what
on God's green earth is the SSPX's point in pursuing the theological
will-o-the-wisp known as "Vatican II in the light of tradition," when the
only thing that can come from such a futile move is for the SSPX and it's
followers is an abject compromise on the various doctrinal positions it
claims to defend, the complete neutralization of a large portion of
Catholic resistance, eventual assimilation into a false church that
espouses real and true doctrinal errors, and ultimately the reckless
endangerment of countless souls?
Most 'gay'-friendly 'diocese' in U.S.
Sodomite 'Catholics' come out in San Jose
"I just met a couple two days ago at Father Jon's 11:30 am mass. Two
guys together is always kind of an indicator. I walked up to those guys
and said, 'Hey, how are you? My name is Bob, I'm the lector today at
church. My partner's name is Ben.
"'Their eyes lit up. They begin to tell me, 'Yeah, we got married last
year, and we have a family, and we like coming here. Wow, you actually
just told us here in church,' and I said, 'Yeah, it's confession of the
truth. Isn't it cool?'
"We have to convince the church that confession of the truth won't hurt
the priests, or the institution, or the parishioners. Do I come into the
church yelling to everybody 'I'm gay, I'm gay, I'm gaaaay!' No, I don't,
but I don't miss an opportunity to talk about my family, including my
partner. I'm not going to dishonor him by not talking about him."
NOW Comments:
While the gist of the above article focuses on efforts to have openly
homosexual "churches" in the San Jose area, there has been a
longstanding and pervasive pro-pervert policy by the "diocese."
On the orders of former Bishop Roland
Pierre DuMaine and current Bishop Patrick Joseph McGrath, the
diocese has been able to offer ministry and support to local gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Catholics for more than 20
years by operating under the radar.
Clearly, the official Novus Ordo position that homosexuality is
"intrinsically evil" and "objectively disordered" is not taken seriously
by "Bp." McGrath, but then why should it be, since like so many
teachings of that sect it is no more than optional. (Yes, technically it
is supposed to be more than that, but in practical terms it's up to the
whims of local "ordinaries" and "pastors" as to how or whether such a
teaching is interpreted and implemented.) The LGBT "ministry" mentioned
is but convenient window dressing that pro-perv "bishops" like McGrath
use to semi-conceal their homophilic policies with the plausible denial
that they are only "helping" the sodomites deal with their orientation
and societal "prejudice."
Incidentally, McGrath's Modernism has shown itself in
other areas as well. On February 19, 2004, McGrath he published an
opinion piece in the secular San Jose Mercury News prior to the
opening of The Passion of the Christ, stressing that the Catholic
Church does not support anti-Semitism in any form. McGrath received
criticism from Traditionalist Catholics for one paragraph in the
editorial:
While the primary source material of the film is attributed to the four
Gospels, these sacred books are not historical accounts of the
historical events that they narrate. They are theological reflections
upon the events that form the core of Christian faith and belief.
It isn't surprising that one
who questions the historicity of the Gospels also disputes
the Church's position on sexual morality; in fact, it's
rather the norm in the Novus Ordo Church.
Modernist
musings of a Vatican II periti
Chenu:
The transcendent
God of the past is an idol
"Analogously, we are insisting on immanence, anthropology. It is a way
of rediscovering the theology of the Incarnation, that is, a regime
where God is on the earth. I can only perceive the presence of God, his
economy and his providence in earthly events. Otherwise, I make of him a
false god, an idol, an abode for evasion and, as the Marxists say, of
alienation."
[Photo: Chenu, right, shown conversing with fellow
Modernist and Vatican II peritus Yves Congar, who had also been his
student.]
NOW Comments: The French Dominican
Marie Dominique Chenu (1895-1990) had a work placed on the
Index of Forbidden Books by Pope Pius XII in 1942, only to be later
hailed as a great theologian at Vatican II. As for the "immanence"
insisted upon by Chenu, it must be remembered that "vital immanence" was
a teaching of the Modernists expressly condemned in
Pascendi. Fr.
Christian Thouvenot, in a study regarding
the canonization of Pope St. Pius X, writes that in 1945 "an article
by Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P. was published denouncing the New Theology
as a throwback to modernism. The immanentism of Blondel, taken up again
by Fathers de Lubac, Rousselot, and Huby, and also different movements,
such as that of the priest-workers, were the objects of surveillance by
the Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office. The same applies to the
Dominicans Congar, Feret, and Chenu, whose work A School of Theology:
The Saulchoir had been put on the Index of Forbidden Books a few
years earlier."

Antonio Gramsci's]
Marxist theory of cultural revolution stressed that dominance over the
existing order in the West, including religion, was rooted in education,
the media, law, and a mass culture of beliefs, values, and traditions.
He said that it was through these elements that the 'ruling class'
exercised mind-control or 'hegemony' over ordinary people. Hence, to
overturn the existing order and 'Marxize the inner man,' one must create
a subversive program of 'counter-hegemony' against its supporting
culture. The war against the existing culture would leave nothing
outside of the struggle, especially Christianity, to negate the
established modes of thought and ways of doing things. (Left: A
twenty-two-year-old Antonio Gramsci is shown in this photo from 1913,
when he was already a committed Socialist. Six years later he
established the weekly newspaper L'Ordine Nuovo ('The New
Order'), which would receive the formal backing of Soviet dictator
Vladimir Lenin.)
"Christianity is considered a prime target in preparing the way for a
'Marxized America,' since religion, as an independent center of
societal values, stands in the way of creating a new culture based on
what is deceptively called “social justice” and 'change' Religion, in
the Gramsci view, is the foundation for the Western values of individual
liberty, private property, and the traditional family, and must be
abolished in order for the new communist society to emerge.
"Interestingly,
Notre Dame has one of the leading Gramsci scholars on its faculty.
Joseph A. Buttigieg, a Professor of English at Notre Dame, is the editor
and translator of the complete edition of Antonio Gramsci’s Prison
Notebooks, and was a founding member of the International Gramsci
Society, of which he is now president. He spoke at the Brecht Forum,
home of the New York Marxist School, in 1994 and was an endorser of the
'150th Anniversary of the Communist Manifesto' conference, held October
30 & 31, 1998, at Cooper Union's Great Hall in New York." (Right: Joseph
Buttigieg teaches English at Notre Dame and is a tireless promoter of

More on Benedict's revolutionary encyclical
"It is not superfluous to remind my reader that until Vatican II the
Church always taught that the poor should be the object of charity and
receive alms with humility. John XXIII (Mater
et Magistra)
and Paul VI (Populorum
progressio),
however, combated this traditional perspective stressing that the poor
should not receive any help as an act of charity. Rather, they would
have the civil 'right' to receive help, and, therefore, the rich would
have a 'duty' to give it.
"In this transition from assistance by mercy, to assistance obligated by
law lies the essential difference between Catholic doctrine and
Socialism. In the text above, Pope Ratzinger promotes the same socialist
thesis supported by his conciliar predecessors and opposes the
traditional teaching on charity, which he pejoratively calls
philanthropy."
Novus
Ordo Watch Guest Commentary (Part Two) Refinishing the Great Façade: The
Vatican, the SSPX, and the 'Restoration of Tradition' "One of the Modernist
Vatican's tricks to lure well-intentioned traditionalists into the
New Church has been the idea that the Second Vatican Council can and
needs to be interpreted 'in light of Tradition' so that the 'true'
spirit of Vatican II can supposedly manifest itself.
"Contrary to what some may think, this whole idea of reading Vatican
II 'in light of Tradition' is nothing new--it is used whenever the
New Church needs to throw a few crumbs to the conservative faithful
to keep them in line. For example, John Paul II said in early 2000:
“To interpret the Council on the supposition that it marks a break
with the past, when in reality it stands in continuity with the
faith of all times, is a definite mistake' (Address to the
Conference Studying the Implementation of Vatican II, Feb. 27, 2000)."

the English Martyrs
"To be blunt, the tentative terms of the new structures will be
created by Ratzinger/Benedict to accommodate the 'traditions' of a false
religion created by a king who revolted against the Catholic Church to
satisfy his insatiable passions in violation of the binding precepts of
the Sixth and Ninth Commandments is an affront to the memory of the
thousands of martyrs who gave up their lives in England rather than to
acknowledge the legitimacy of the so-called 'Church of England' and/or
any of its false sacramental 'rites.'"
Is
the SSPX right about the liturgy?
"Except by the SSPX, whose founder Archbishop Lefebvre wrote in
A Bishop Speaks: Writings and Addresses
1963-1976A Bishop Speaks: Writings
and Addresses 1963-1976 (Angelus Press): 'The
sacrifice of the Mass is the heart, the soul, and the mystical
wellspring of the Church... Do not the ills of the Church, the weakening
of faith, the dwindling number of vocations, the destruction of
religious communities...spring from the doing away with altars and their
replacement by the tables of the Eucharistic meal?...'
"A proposal currently gaining ground is that the Ordinary Form be
re-sacralized, implying that the liturgical tendencies of the past 40
years are a matter of appearances only. But is the Ordinary Form a true
sacrificial rite? Not according to the SSPX study The Problem of the Liturgical Reform
(The book is in PDF format. If you are unable to access it, click
here for a free Adobe Reader download.),
which claims that the reforms have diminished the traditional link
between the Mass and the Cross in favor of the Last Supper."

USCCB: It actually supports Obamacare
USCCB mounts late drive against
'unacceptable' health-care reform
"The US bishops' conference is mounting a late drive to secure
passage of a pro-life amendment to the health-care reform bill. The US
Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is asking pastors all across the
country to include an insert in their weekly bulletins, urging
parishioners to call their Congressional representatives and encourage a
vote for a pro-life amendment. The USCCB's pro-life office has indicated
that it will press bishops to promote the dissemination of these
bulletin inserts. The insert exhorts parishioners to act immediately.
'Congressional votes may take place as soon as early November,' it
notes."
NOW Comments:
The Obama Administration's heavy-handed drive to impose the biggest
layer of socialism in U.S. history has had a major ally in the USCCB.
This isn't to say that the Conference hasn't voiced opposition to
certain aspects of the Administration's health care proposals, such as
public funding of abortion, that health care be affordable and available
for the underprivileged and accessible to legal immigrants. Yet to
support it at all is what's most telling and most disturbing.
Just as they are so wrong with many of their doctrinal teachings,
America's Modernist "hierarchy" are wrong often on secular ones, as
well. Supporting "healthcare reform" is just one of these secular
errors, and it involves the "bishops" accepting at face value the faulty
and dishonest premise that the nation has a failed healthcare system,
when the fact of the matter is that overall it is easily
the best in the world.
The
suggestion that everything will be okay if Congress attaches a pro-life
amendment to the bill is ludicrous. This is measure the cost of which
would increase the Federal black hole by a minimum of $1 trillion
over ten years. At a time of economic crisis, when it's imperative that
the Feds exercise some fiscal responsibility, they are up to their usual
profligate ways.
The Federal Government has mismanaged Social Security,
Medicare, and Medicaid, presided over a massive national debt, failed to
secure our borders against illegal aliens, and managed to allow our
country to become a debtor nation to Communist China, yet we're supposed
to believe it can fix health care? Then, of course, there's the massive
erosion of freedoms that will ensue when the government makes life and
death decisions for us all (i.e., the elderly are thrown out to the curb like garbage). The American "bishops" should be standing firm for ethical
behavior and fiscal prudent measures from the White House and Washington
lawmakers,
but they're all to willing to get on the Obamacare bandwagon
so long as their demands are met.
Sending bulletin inserts is laughable,
given that 54% of the people receiving them voted for Barack Obama.
Does the USCCB really think the pro-abortion Obama crowd is suddenly
going to "get religion" and rally behind a pro-life amendment?
That's a joke, but who's the joke on? No doubt it's on the same gullible
people who think these men are really pro-life, while ignoring the fact
that, by and large, the same "bishops" are rarely doing anything even
remotely pro-life (save for some ineffectual, weasel word documents on
the USCCB's website, are never seen
en masse
at anything like a public Rosary to save the unborn (e.g., the March for
Life), like have
absolutely no qualms
about allowing awards,
communion and last rites to be given to unrepentant pro-abortion politicians.
The only thing you really need to know about the USCCB's position on
Obama's socialist healthcare reform package is that it really supports
it and is only "opposing" it the sense that it wants lawmakers to "fix"
it with a few tweaks. The sad
thing about this is that many naive people who
are
against legal abortion who read the bulletin inserts are being conned
into believing that their "bishops" are on the side of the angels
regarding this measure, when nothing could be further from the truth.

differences that still separate the Society from the Roman Catholic
Church. The gathering also served to identify the manner and structure
of future discussions between the two groups.
"Though Pope Benedict lifted the excommunication of four Lefebvrist
bishops earlier this year, he also told the bishops of the world that
'until the doctrinal questions are clarified, the Society has no

the Ratzingerian camp, the second the invalid and destructive view
of the 'liberals' who champion the 'Spirit of Vatican II.'"

"You'll note that Levada is the former Protector of the Realm of Sodomy

who do not learn from history's lessons…
Bishop Williamson (2002): Campos has fallen!
"The poor Campos priests! Having given away the store
(the sanity of their mind) in order to come in from the cold (the
marginalization of their hearts), they will almost certainly from now on
go along with anything the Romans say, rather than have to go back out
into the cold of being 'excommunicated,' 'schismatic,' etc. Like St.
Peter’s Fraternity, they will have paid so dearly (with their sanity and
integrity) for acceptance by Rome, that they will pay anything further
in order not to lose acceptance. Which Rome well knows, and will exploit
to the full, but 'little by little,' as the Pope’s theologian says."
NOW Comments:
How relevant are these words to the SSPX-Vatican talks that are
commencing! As "the Campos priests" have proven themselves willing to
yield the Faith for a bowl of progressivist pottage from Modernist Rome,
there is absolutely no reason to believe that it will any different with
the bishops and priests of the SSPX, should they continue far enough
down the dark road upon which they now travel. No, there is only one
outcome for them, one, as Bp. Williamson described the earlier
capitulation, that will end with them willing to "go along with anything
the Romans say" and to "pay anything further in order not to lose
acceptance," so that 'little by little,' they will be completely
neutralized, lose whatever Catholic identity they now possess and be
fully absorbed into the bell of the beast." Let not the silliness and
un-Catholic position the bishop takes above in regard to the Campos
priests as having given away "the sanity of their minds," and elsewhere,
as suffering "insanity" and "losing their minds" (losing their
minds?…no, losing their Faith) take away from the fact that a
bishop of the SSPX plainly condemns precisely the sort of activity the
Society is contemplating, even down to it's angling for the
establishment of something analogous to the "personal apostolic
administration" granted the Campos group. (And what, after all, is
there to "negotiate" about Vatican II, which Bp. Williamson has rightly

Dinner with the next 'Pope'?
"This evening I was invited to dine, along with a dozen other
journalists, with Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson (left), 61, the
Archbishop of Cape Coast in Ghana, in West Africa. Turkson is not just
any cardinal. He is the youngest African cardinal.
"And, as the 'Relator,' or General Secretary, of the Synod on Africa
currently taking place in Rome, he is unquestionably one of the 'top'
African cardinals (as he is often termed in the press). Indeed, some
have gone so far as to speculate that Turkson may become... the first
African Pope."
NOW Comments:
Actually, the author of this piece, Dr. Robert Moynihan, editor of
Inside the Vatican, (a conservative-leaning lapdog publication of
Modernist Rome), is mistaken when he says that Turkson would be the
first African Pope, and not merely because Turkson would be yet another
false Pope. In the early Church three Popes were African
―Victor
I, Miltiades and Gelasius I,―however
all were from Northern Africa, so, were Turkson validly elected,
he'd be the first black African to sit (falsely) on the Chair of Peter. But there
are more serious problems with the article. Moynihan provides his
readers with fluff facts about Turkson, such as the inspiration he draws
from Obama's election, his fondness for the Ghana soccer team and his
fluency in Italian and American English. Only the first of these
tidbits could be considered an indicator of what might be expected from
a Turkson "Papacy," for it turns out that his views on sexual relations
are decidedly leftwing like the President. In a
press conference
in Rome conducted on October 9th, Turkson was asked about combating
HIV/AIDS in Ghana. He responded by saying that there were different
options, "either the anti-retrovirus or it is the use of condom to stop
the spread of HIV/Aids, unless we go with the abstinence, you know, and
fidelity to partners and things like that." In other words, abstinence
is mentioned after condom use as a way to prevent the spread of the
disease, instead of asserting in unequivocal Catholic fashion that there
is no substitute for abstinence. Further on in his press
conference, he distances himself somewhat from an all-out
endorsement of condoms, but only because of the shoddy quality of those
available in his country (if better ones were available, he wouldn't
have the concern). And this from the someone whose name is being
tossed out as "papable"! Scary stuff, but not altogether
surprising, either.
SATIRE
[POSTDATE: OCT. 7, THE FEAST OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY OF THE BLESSED
VIRGIN MARY] Happy Anniversary, 'Pope'
Ratzinger!
Greetings, "Your Holiness,"
We at Novus Ordo Watch know just how busy you are these days in your
tireless
24/7 efforts to "restore" the traditions of the Catholic Church and to
"reform the reform." Thanks to such
reliable sources asEWTN,
Inside the Vatican, The Remnant andthe group formerly
known as the Transalpine
Redemptorists, we know that the Church has no better friend than you
in Rome and we're saddened to hear that attempts are being made to
derail your best efforts by the nefarious doings of "Cardinal"
Kasper and a shady group simply known as "the Vatican." These days
you're motoring nonstop all
around the Eternal City to make certain that Kasper
and his evil minions are not able to frustrate your upcoming
all-important talks with the Society
of St. Pius X (SSPX), which are designed to find a way to provide the
dissident group with an attractive side altar in your "ecumenical," one-world,
Modernist Church.
And it's good that these groups are showing such great concern. Why, The Remnant just went to bat for you, attacking
someone they think is another in-house enemy of yours (but really good friend
and colleague―we
know, "Your Holiness," The Remnant is confused;
we've tried talking to them about this, but they just won't listen,
so what to do?), "Cardinal" Christoph Schönborn.
who it thinks is causing problems with unreasonable demands of the Society
that it claims you would never make. Remnant
correspondent Martin Blackshaw writes:
In the run-up to the
long-anticipated talks between the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX)
and the Holy See much useless chatter has been generated in the
press by those who are less than receptive to the idea of
reconciliation. Cardinal Schönborn of Vienna, for example,
recently stated that the SSPX must accept the whole of Vatican
II—including religious liberty, religious freedom, ecumenism and
interfaith dialogue. Rather than headlining these remarks as the
personal opinions of Cardinal Schönborn the press presented them
as a statement from the Vatican itself.
"Listening for Mater Ecclesia: On the Eve of
the SSPX Negotiations"
Now we're not quite
clear why Mr. Blackshaw thinks that for "Cardinal" Schönborn and others
allegedly opposed to your meeting with the breakaway group to insist
that the SSPX accept the
whole of Vatican II "including religious liberty, religious freedom,
ecumenism and interfaith dialogue" would somehow go against your
mind, unless like his Remnant colleague Chris Ferrara. he's
lumping Schönborn in with those he considers to shadowy figures of
"the Vatican" anti-Benedict Evil Empire (be on your toes, "Holy
Father"; we bet you didn't even know they were out to get you!). After all, the year of your election you hung out at the main
synagogue in Cologne but never once offended the rabbis and other Jews in attendance
by urging them to
convert (they have their own plan of salvation and don't need
Christ, isn't that what you say?). In later years you have gone to Turkey and prayed
in a mosque with
arms folded in the manner of a Muslim (photo right―no Sign of the Cross allowed,
so why offend anyone by even pretending to act Catholic, huh?); had your supposed archenemy "Cardinal" Walter Kasper present a
chalice to the newly-enthroned Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill
along with your congratulations that included mention that the Holy
Spirit called Kirill to minister; receiving a pagan Aborigine mark
on your forehead at last year's World Youth Day festivities in
Australia (ala
John Paul II and the Hindus); on numerous occasions called for religious freedom, and so
on.
Given your proven commitment, then, to these and other Vatican II
positions,
it is puzzling indeed that Mr. Blackshaw should think that
"Cardinal" Schönborn and others are in any way opposed to you on
this. Perhaps he forgets that it was you who penned the 1988
protocol that nearly brought Archbishop Lefebvre and the SSPX into
"full communion" with your Conciliar Church, but in doing
so you put a requirement on the archbishop to accept Vatican II
(just like "Cardinal" Schönborn, right?).
In any case, we apologize for getting really
off subject, especially when our real reason for writing you is
offer our congratulations on a very special anniversary of yours. As
you recall, two years ago a hand-picked appointee of yours,
"Archbishop" George Niederauer of San Francisco, went about
implementing your plan to "restore" the traditions of the Catholic
Church and to "reform the reform" in a very special way and he
picked a feast day dating before Vatican II to emphasize the
importance of getting back to the roots. And that's because on the
Feast of the Most Holy Rosary he went out of his way to make sure
that two "nuns" (left) dressed in long traditional habits were made
welcome
to receive communion at Most Holy Redeemer Church
(MHRC). Well, we
know that "Archbishop" Niederauer is like just you in wanting to
make everyone feel at home. It's all about inclusiveness. We
understand that and that's really something to celebrate, isn't it,
"Holy Father"?!
Anyway, there was a little, shall we say, mix-up? It seems
that the two "nuns" who received communion were from an
order called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI). We don't
know if you've heard of them before. They were certainly new to us.
It turns out they're a post-Vatican II order that originated in the
United States, but that now has "convents" all around the globe.
The "nuns" were hey were
really "gay" men dressed up to look something like nuns, except
they wore clown makeup. One added costume jewelry to the look, while
the other one, who had a moustache, chose brightly-colored
headwear and one of them (above left).
And you want to know the funny thing? Even though this occurred in
October, the two SPI "sisters" weren't dressing up early for
Halloween. No, that's how they always dress.
Now, "Archbishop" Niederauer was well aware that MHRC is an
extremely "gay"-friendly church even before he went
there, and it's a fact that he's for a
very long time. But again, like you, he's all about inclusiveness
and making people of diverse lifestyles feel at home in the
Conciliar Church. That's just what he's about, don't you know, so he
had no problem at all being there. Fit right in (his version of
being "all things to all men," no doubt).
His
"pastoral concerns" in regards to watching over his "gay"
brethren are well-known. In 1986 he
wrote a letter to a judge asking that
a "priest" convicted of 26 counts of felony child sex abuse charged
be spared prison time. Who knows, he wrote, but that maybe the boys
didn't realized that the "priest" was just engaged in some
good-natured "horseplay" with them. Later, "Archbishop" Niederauer
(right) said that the letter had been a "mistake." Oops.
In subsequent years (and also prior to his appointment by you in
December 2005) he denied the demonstrable link between
homosexual-child molester link and opposed an initiative to ban
same-sex "marriages." You see, once again these are positions
showing his strong consistent commitment to inclusiveness, which
must warm your heart, Your Holiness. Not only must you have been
impressed enough by these and other such acts to name him "ordinary
of San Francisco," but as noted above (in the link citing his letter
to the judge), but your sentiments were joined by "gay" leaders who
hailed your appointment, including a homosexual activists who called
George Niederauer "one of the best candidates to lead the heavily
gay-populated Catholic community of San Francisco.”
"Holy Father," you gladdened many hearts when you stuck to your
choice, even after he disagreed with you and said he welcomed "gay"
men into the seminaries. You could have bowed to the opposition, who
wanted you to rescind the appointment, but you refused to budge.
After all, why change a choice you made in the first place with
full knowledge of his homophilic record?
But getting back to the occasion of this joyous anniversary, some
confused people (let's call them the excluders) didn't take
kindly to "Archbishop" Niederauer's open arms policy of unification.
They got all in a huff when they heard that the "archbishop" was
going to make a visit to Most Holy Redeemer, even going to effort of
having two photographers on hand, one of whom got footage of the
"nuns'" communion, which of course you've seen (we know, because
the
excluders made a very vocal public protest in which they said they
would see that the "archbishop" get removed from office―cooler
heads prevailed at the Vatican, however, and you wisely ignored the
tempest in the teapot and let him
continue to feed his flock in peace).
The excluders were upset by such things as Sisters of Perpetual
Indulgence motto, "go and sin some more," which many find
offensive, but which, after all, is but a more open version of
advice sometimes heard given by "priests" in Novus Ordo
"confessionals." Also, we know how great an admirer you are of the
religious reformer, Martin Luther (remember when at Vatican II you
complained that Gaudium et Spes
had too much on Teilhard, not enough Luther?―it
was very good of you to remind the Council Fathers, who did what
they could to correct the error),
who had advice to his followers that was very similar to the SPI's
motto. Luther said, "go and sin boldly."
As you know, the end everything turned out fine. Oh, for a time the
excluders made life a little difficult for "Archbishop" Niederauer,
so much so that he was compelled to issue a public "apology." He
started by saying that he noticed no protest. "The congregation was
devout and the liturgy was celebrated with reverence," he went on,
and you know that had to be true since the "Mass" was at the
super pious MHRC!
Continuing he recalled that, "Toward the end of the Communion line
two strangely dressed persons came to receive Communion. I did not
see any mock religious garb." We'd be inclined to ask the archbishop
when was the last time he stopped at Lenscrafters for an eye test,
except then there's always the possibility that he thought they were
"celebrants" for "Clown Masses" to be said later.
Of
course it could be that while he would have withheld communion had
he known the queerly-dressed "persons" were members of the SPI, he
doesn't withhold it for average, run-of-the-mill transvestites.
So, it was just a mix-up, he insisted; just like his letter
defending the child molester, it was a big mistake. ("After
the event, I realized that they were members of this particular
organization and that giving them Holy Communion had been a
mistake.")
He's got that excuse down pat, doesn't he?
Finally, he said that the SPI did wear costumes that mocked female
religious and said that he had opposed them in the past. That was
probably going a little too far, however, and in a newscast
one of the "Sisters" actually said that it is not to mock
"nuns" that they dress as they do, but, on the contrary, it
is to honor the religious orders and the wonderful service
they've provided for centuries.
Think about it, "Holy Father." It turns out that "Archbishop"
Niederauer gave communion to members of a group that's all about
honoring the traditions of the Church, so this fits in perfectly
with your own efforts to "restore" those traditions. What a
wonderful coincidence, "Your Holiness," and reason to celebrate.
It's a good thing that you didn't listen to those grumpy old
excluders, isn't it? Speaking of which (not to dampen spirits), one
of them wrote
a very nasty piece on an excluder website in which you are
indirectly attacked. In part it read:
And finally, the
ultimate REAL apology is owed by Rome to Catholics worldwide in
giving us wolves in sheep’s clothing masquerading as Bishops who
could not care less about the eternity of the souls entrusted to
them!
So, there are some
people who just want to spoil things, but you won't let them. You
stood up to them two years ago and they backed down, then ran off
like a dog with its tail between its legs. Since then the excluders
have left the archbishop alone for the most part, since they now
realize that you've got his back!
Once again, Novus Ordo Watch congratulates you on the second
anniversary of this great event and of the defeat of the
excluders!!! We know how happy you must be to have someone of the
caliber of the archbishop." Perhaps one day you can reward him for
all his tireless labor, much as "Cardinal" Bernard Law was given
that cushy Curial job.in Rome! And that will be cause for even more
rejoicing!

Nun's
1980 Satanic slaying
Convicted murderer priest: I didn't do it
"The Rev. Gerald Robinson was convicted of killing Sister Margaret Ann
Pahl (left) in 1980 by strangling her and then stabbing her 31 times in
a Toledo hospital chapel.…'I believed he was the killer then at the
trial, and I believe it now,' said Lee Pahl, the victim's nephew. 'And,
yes, it bothers me that he hasn't been defrocked by the Catholic Church.
As a convicted murderer, he shouldn't be allowed to keep his title as a
priest.'
"Prosecutors said Robinson's public claim of innocence now rings hollow.
'For him now to come out and say he didn't do it -- I would say to him,
"You missed your chance to say that when it counted,"' said Dean
Mandros, the lead prosecutor in Robinson's case. 'He didn't take the
stand because he knew he couldn't answer the (critical) questions.'"
And so it begins (the secret Vatican-SSPX 'debate')
"The first real task of the Council was to overcome the indolent,
euphoric feeling that all was well with the Church, and to bring into
the open the problems smoldering within." —Father Joseph Ratzinger, in a
talk on the Second Vatican Council delivered in October 1964, while the
Council was still in session (he was then 37 years old and a peritus or
"expert" at the Council…)

Reflections
on a 50-year vacancy of the Apostolic See
"Fifty years
ago, around 3 am local time on October 9, 1958, His
Holiness, Pope Pius XII, drew his last breath in Rome.
At that time, most Catholics surely viewed this as
simply an ordinary death of yet another Pope, and though
lamentable, a new Pope would surely follow soon, and all
would be well.
"The last 50 years have proven beyond the
shadow of a doubt that such was not the case. At first,
everything seemed to go the usual way. The deceased Pope
received a solemn funeral, and a conclave to elect his
successor was scheduled for October 25."

The Smoke of Satan: Conservative and Traditionalist Dissent in
Contemporary American Catholicism
"These
American Catholics are united by a common conviction: in the space of
just three decades, the mainstream Catholic church in the United States

preserving authentic Catholicism (and thus Christianity itself) from
outright extinction has fallen to small bands of the truly faithful."

Scandalous doings draws no rebuke from Modernist

More
rotten fruits of Vatican II
Did 'Abp.' Favalora knowingly employ a
boy-raping 'priest'?
"This 'prophecy' is already unfolding, as the
Miami Archdiocese is hit with yet two more sex abuse lawsuits, both
naming as plaintiff Miami's counterpart to Boston's John Geoghan: the
Rev. Neil Doherty. For the following history, I am principally indebted
to the sadly forgotten exposé by Mr. Thomas Francis of the Broward
New Times, 'Lambs to Slaughter.' I am sheltering my readers from the
report's more graphic details.
"Fr. Doherty is no stranger to sexual molestation allegations. Since
1971, a mere two years after his ordination to the priesthood (against
the counsel of his seminary director), the Miami Archdiocese, under
three successive archbishops, has regularly received complaints credibly
alleging drug abuse and sexual molestation on the part of Doherty."
NOW Comment:
Eric Giunta, the writer of the above column, also came out with a prior
one entitled "The case against Archbishop John Favalora of Miami: why he
must resign.'"
Perhaps that title needs to be changed. Consider that the cleric
Favalora (above left, in a shirt that screams South Florida Novus Ordo
clergy) is alleged to employ in Miami churches, Rev. Neil Doherty, is
likened to the notorious
Boston "pedophile priest" John Geoghan, which
would make the "archbishop" the counterpart of "Cardinal" Bernard Law.
Law, of course, was forced to resign in 2002 as Boston's conciliar
"archdiocese" in the midst of multiple sex scandals that ended up
costing around $100,000,000 in settlements and other expenses, but far
from being rebuked by John Paul II, Law was permitted to retain the
curial level positions he held and was even honored by being put in
charge of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, with the title of
Archpriest. So maybe that title should read something like "The
case against Archbishop John Favalora of Miami: why he must
resign in order to be sent to Rome and be given a nice, cushy promotion."
Incidentally, in one of the great meaningful coincidences of
history, Law's rotten cover-ups for pedophiles was judged from four
hundred years before by the actions of another St. Mary Major archpriest
who exposed similar behavior. In the Wikipedia article for St.
Charles Borromeo (right) we read: '"He successfully
attacked his Jesuit confessor, Giovanni Battista Ribera who, with other
members of the college of Milan, was found to be guilty of unnatural
offenses. This action increased Borromeo's enemies within the church."
The SSPX must heed the warning before it's too late
Bishop Williamson (1999): Ratzinger cannot be trusted
"Cardinal Ratzinger seems to be suggesting that Rome is
pondering another liturgical reform which would give us a Mass neither
wildly new nor completely old, and he seems to be asking lovers of the
old liturgy to wait patiently for this reform of the reform, and to
trust Rome meanwhile. Now the Cardinal seems to be a 'nice' man, and few
Cardinals in Rome say so many favorable things about the old liturgy as
he does. Yet can Rome, even as represented by him, be trusted in the
matter of the liturgy?
"Alas, the answer must be no. Why?"
NOW Comments:
While it is good that Bp. Williamson had a healthy distrust for the
Modernist at CDF, we cannot endorse some of the faulty logic he uses to
minimize Ratzinger's heresies and other errors. For a better
understanding of the problem with the Bishop's position, see

'Restoration of Tradition'" directly below.
Novus
Ordo Watch Guest Commentary
Refinishing the Great Façade: The
Vatican, the SSPX, and the 'Restoration of Tradition' "It looks like Benedict XVI got more than he had
bargained for. No doubt, he must have envisioned the lifting of the Society
of St. Pius X (SSPX)
excommunications to go a bit more smoothly: Readmit the SSPX bishops,
sweet-talk them into either accepting or at least not publicly opposing
Vatican II, and thereby effectively destroying the SSPX's open voice of
resistance against the Vatican II Church. But at this point, his attempted
quick-fix to readmit the Lefebvre Society has turned into an absolute
nightmare that has accomplished nothing: The SSPX is still not fully
integrated into the Modernist Church, Bp. Richard Williamson remains defiant
in his beliefs regarding a secular historical matter, and now more “illicit”
ordinations have been conferred in Ecône, Zaitzkofen, and Winona. It appears
that Benedict is effectively risking a schism with the more open modernists
in Germany, where some conciliarists have already exited the New Church on
account of the reinstatement of the SSPX bishops, and Novus Ordo clerics
cannot emphasize enough how little they have in common with the 'fundamentalist' traditionalists (how true!). In short, this couldn't have
gone worse for Fr. Ratzinger, and one hopes that by now everyone who calls
himself a Traditional Catholic has started to realize that, no, this is
not the beginning of the restoration of the Catholic Church."

Conservative by necessity - A Vatican strategy to save the New Mass
"Benedict XVI and some Vatican Prelates are assuming a more conservative
look by necessity. If they were not to do this, the New Mass and the
Liturgical Reform would run the risk of falling into complete
bankruptcy. In this case, it would be difficult to avoid a domino effect
that would push Vatican II into the collapse as well.
"For me it is curious to see how myopic conservatives ignore this

Is
Modernism still active in the Catholic Church?
"On September 8, 1907, Pope Saint Pius X (left,
seated before a statue of the Curé d'Ars, whom he beatified) published
the encyclical letter Pascendi Dominici Gregis, in which he
condemned the heresy of Modernism, a heresy which he defined as "the
synthesis of all heresies" (Pascendi, no. 39). From then until the
Second Vatican Council there was great effort on the part of the
Hierarchy to oppose and wipe out this heresy. Among other things the
Oath against Modernism of September 1, 1910, was required each time that
a member of the Church received a sacred order or a pastoral ministry
such as bishop of a diocese, pastor of a parish, seminary professor,
preacher, religious superior, official of a diocese or of the Holy See,
or to receive an ecclesiastical degree. But around the time of the
Second Vatican Council, the requirement to take this oath was suppressed
by the Holy See, and it has never been seen again. To the best of my
knowledge, no published reason or rationale for the removal of this
requirement was given, but the assumption is that there was no longer a
sufficient reason to keep it in use. Yet, many of the same
manifestations within and without the Catholic Church that motivated
Pope Pius X to write the Encyclical seem to be in some ways still
present today and in many ways even more present today than they were in
the early twentieth century.…"
