'Cardinal' Egan named in 'pedophile priest' lawsuit
"What did
the Cardinal know and when did he know it? For years,
attorneys, without success, have been trying to question New
York's Cardinal Edward Egan about a priest he supervised
while Bishop of the Bridgeport Diocese.
The former priest, John Castaldo, is a convicted sex
offender, and he's being sued for at least the third time
for allegedly molesting a young boy. And the cardinal is
being named as a defendant in the law suit."
That's putting it mildly!
Benedict's 'ultra-conservative' image is false
"However, apart from the merits of the argument over sexual
discipline, there is a problem of the public perception of
the Pope's image. He is not an ultra-conservative spoiling
for a fight. He is not a Pius IX, becoming increasingly
defensive in his old age, still less a Pius X, who
persecuted some of the finest theological intellects of the
early 20th century for so-called modernism, which would now
be regarded as unobjectionable and orthodox (sic).
The shame continues
Obama to speak at Notre Dame
University
"White House Secretary Robert Gibbs stated today that
President Obama will give the commencement address at Notre
Dame University this year. The school confirmed the
announcement, stating on its website that Obama will also
receive an honorary doctor of laws degree at the
University's 164th University Commencement Ceremony at 2
p.m. May 17 in the Joyce Center on campus."
'Cardinal'
interviewed
Cottier on the 'militant and
aggressive' SSPX and Bp. Williamson
"At present there is the paradox that it is easier for us to
speak peacefully with the Protestants, who are further away
from the Catholic Church, and who often feel nostalgic about
unity, than with the traditionalists, who have remained
militant and aggressive (in Paris they went as far as to
occupy a church by force). But this attitude of theirs does
not change the fact that they remain our brothers in faith.
We must therefore support the Holy Father’s attempt to put
an end to this schism, which is a great and courageous act.
History teaches us that when a schism lasts too long, it
will become irreversible: Lefebvre’s movement may turn into
a sect. Action needs to be taken without losing time."
NOW Comments:
"Cardinal" (Fr.) Georges Cottier was ordained a priest as
long ago as 1951, but it one would make a huge mistake to
think that that makes the man somehow more
traditionally-minded. He has been in the direct employ of
Modernist Rome for the past 20 years and was "consecrated a
bishop" as recently as 2003. In recent years he as shown his
true colors by endorsing the use of condoms, speaking in
favor of evolution at the Vatican-sponsored Darwin
conference, an event where those challenging the "fact" of
evolution were forbidden to speak, and in the above
interview stating, among other things, that there is a
common "Catholic and Protestant tradition" in
scripture interpretation. As far as the SSPX goes, it's
quite instructive that he criticizes them for being
"militant and aggressive" in their resistance to his Vatican
II sect, unlike Protestants who engage "peacefully" in
interreligious talks. Interestingly, he uses the term
"militant" in a pejorative sense, which is fitting, given
that the Novus Ordo Church is not the Church
militant. Particularly galling to him is the SSPX's forcible
rescue in 1977 of Paris' Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet Church,
where six Latin Masses are offered every Sunday.
Another key point is his sense of urgency in destroying the
Society. It is clear from this that "Pope" Ratzinger is
deadly serious about bringing them into "full communion"
with him asap. Our advice to the Society? Stay
militant and aggressive, only turn it up a notch!Oh,
and beware of Modernists bearing gifts.
Liturgical Chaos and 'Abuses'
Note: The
video slideshow embedded above is produced by an individual
who wrongly thinks that there is some good to the liturgical
changes, but they have been undone to an extent by "abuses"
and that Benedict XVI is the great friend of Tradition who
will restore the liturgy to all its glory. And it is to this
end that quotes are included from "Pope" Ratzinger meant to
reinforce this line of thought. Clearly, Novus Ordo Watch in
no way approves that message, because, nearly four years
into his "pontificate," Benedict has allowed (just as
his predecessors), such "abuses" to go unabated, from
Ratzinger chum and Vienna "Cardinal" Christoph Schonborn and
his hip, irreverent "Youth Masses (right, Schonborn holds
orange balloon during "procession"; click photo to enlarge)
to Ratzinger appointee and San Francisco "Archbishop" George
Niederauer giving communion to the blatant transvestite members
of sacrilegious Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to "Father"
Fred Bailey's Devil "Mass" in Orange, California to the
latest scandal du jour. Benedict's careful chosen
rhetoric is simply pabulum for the credulous of his
commitment to the true Mass, and when he bemoans liturgical
destruction it eerily parallels Paul VI's remark about
"the smoke of Satan entering the temple of God" in more than one
way: 1. Both regard so-called liturgical "abuses" (this is a
misuse of the term abuse, since the activities
under discussion were and are both systemic and officially
approved by the highest ranks of the Novus Ordo Church,
either through commission or omission); 2. Paul VI and
then-Fr. Ratzinger were instrumental in spearheading and
implementing liturgical revolution both at the Council and
in the years that followed, which is why the new "Mass"
never was repudiated by either of them; and 3. Despite the
crocodiles tears from them about the "harmful abuses,"
neither lifted so much as a finger to stop them, which more
than anything proves where their true sympathies could be
found.

Pittsburgh 'bishop' announces
apology services for anyone 'harmed' by the Church
"Pittsburgh Catholic Bishop David Zubik will lead a special
'Service of Apology' on April 7 at 7 p.m. at Saint Paul
Cathedral in Oakland. 'This is meant for anybody in the
church who's experienced any kind of hurt,' Zubik said.
'Perhaps somebody was yelled at in a confessional, or there
may have been an employment dispute, or somebody might have
been a victim of abuse, or any other kind of
misunderstanding that would have kept them away from the
church.'"

Boston 'Catholic' hospital suspected of
providing abortion referrals
"Catholic Action League
Executive Director C. J. Doyle stated: 'Everything we need
to know about the Caritas Christi/Centene Corporation
partnership and its deal with Commonwealth Care was apparent
in this morning's Globe. Caritas, which refuses to release
the names of its board of governors, won't even publicly say
how it handles requests for abortions now -- without the
requirements of a state contract.'
"'If Caritas actually intended to accept tax dollars while
evading state demands for abortion coverage, every voice on
the political left would be raised against it -- in the
media, in the Legislature, and among the advocacy groups.
Instead, we have heard nothing but silence from the usual
adversaries of the Church.'"

Clergy abuse claims rose in 2008
"Roman Catholic dioceses and religious orders saw a rise in
molestation claims against clergy last year, according to a
new report from U.S. bishops. Nearly all the 803 cases
involved adults who said they had been abused as children
decades ago."
'Hermeneutic
of Deception' revisited
Reform in Continuity: Re-approaching the
Second Vatican Council
"As the decades have passed, we have
entered a time when there is an increasing consideration of
the proper and improper interpretation (and, by
correspondence, implementation) of the Second Vatican
Council.…
"It has been further propelled to the
fore by reason of the discussions and debates surrounding
the Society of Saint Pius X and the Second Vatican Council.
This has perhaps positively accelerated broader
considerations of how the Council is to be approached in all
its varying aspects."
NOW Comments:
The linked article is a defense of Benedict XVI's so-called
"hermeneutic of continuity," which postulates that Vatican
II does not represent a rupture from Tradition, but rather
has an unbroken unity or continuity with it. Flowing
from that argument is the contention that somehow the
Council has been misunderstood as a break from the past,
which in turn has led to incorrect teachings and policies.
This hypothesis was first
expounded by "Pope" Ratzinger in 2005 and seems
to have been aimed primarily to entice semi-traditional
Catholics like the Society of St. Pius X; showing them, as
it were, that they can indeed embrace Vatican II "in the
light of Tradition." As such, it was to be the first of a
number of overtures to the group, including the "liberating"
motu proprio on the Mass and the lifting of the 1988
"excommunications" imposed on the four SSPX bishops
consecrated that year. However, it should take only a
moment's reflection to see through the deception of the
"hermeneutic of continuity" argument. Forty years passed
between the end of the Robber Council and the elevation of
Fr. Joseph Ratzinger as pseudo-Pope, a period which saw
three of his predecessors come and go without saying a word
about any alleged "hermeneutic of continuity." And this
despite the fact that two of the three were the "Pope" who
closed the Council and had over a decade more to see whether
it was being properly interpreted and implemented, as well
as one who held the reins of power for over a quarter
century and never seemed to be at a loss for words on any
subject. In fact, many of the most outrageous acts and
pronouncements would come from Paul VI and John Paul II as
confirmation of the direction taken by the post-Conciliar
church. If the SSPX was not so intent on getting its side
altar in the Novus Ordo Church, it would see this ruse for
what it is. Unfortunately, as the link below sadly shows,
such is not the case.

"According to Bishop Fellay, the next step in this whole
process is the “clarification” of Vatican II. Together with
Archbishop Lefebvre, Bishop Fellay holds that the Council
was ambiguous, that is, that its pronouncements were vague,
and could be interpreted in a Catholic sense or in a
non-Catholic sense. Hence they are in need of clarification
in the Catholic sense. This will solve the problem of
Vatican II, it is alleged. How will this “clarification”
process go? If anyone is expecting Catholic doctrine to
emerge from it, he will be sorely disappointed. Ratzinger
will never retreat from religious liberty.…"

Benedict XVI
to visit Dome of Rock, Western Wall during his Mideast trip

'Card.' Mahoney bans Bp.
Williamson from entering any Novus Ordo building in LA
"In the Los Angeles Archdiocese, Williamson is hereby banned
from entering any Catholic church, school or other facility,
until he and his group comply fully and unequivocally with
the Vatican's directives regarding the Holocaust. Later this
year, I, Cardinal Mahony, will visit Israel and pay my
respects to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust at the Yad
Vashem Memorial in Jerusalem. Holocaust deniers like
Williamson will find no sympathetic ear or place of refuge
in the Catholic Church, of which he is not --- and may never
become --- a member."
